Job summary

The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist I at 61st Street Service Corporation supports ColumbiaDoctors in ophthalmology imaging, performing fundus photography, optical coherence tomography, corneal mapping, specular biomicroscopy, and flatbed scanning in an ambulatory setting.

You will collaborate with ophthalmologists, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure patient comfort and high-quality imaging, while learning new techniques as part of the Diagnostic Imaging Career Ladder.

Qualifications

• High school graduate and a minimum of 6 months’ ophthalmology experience
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong service orientation
• Ability to learn new systems and programs (e.g., Epic EMR)
• Willingness to cover across multiple sites and flexible schedule
• Relevant ophthalmic certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic imaging studies and examinations, review imaging requests and ensure appropriateness
• Position patient and select imaging options for best-case results
• Operate cameras and scanners for fundus photography, OCT, corneal mapping, and related imaging
• Enter patient data into imaging systems and transfer images to PACS
• Maintain equipment logs, QA, and daily instrument sterilization and organization
• Provide pre- and post-visit explanations to patients and handle calls as needed
• Assist supervisor with special projects
• Other duties as assigned
