Job summary

University of Utah Health seeks an ophthalmic assistant at the Moran Eye Center to support ophthalmologists with preliminary patient examinations and diagnostic testing. Qualifications

• Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential required within 30 days of hire.
• Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.
• Preferred: experience in ophthalmology and pursuing JCAHPO certification.

Responsibilities

• Obtains a medical history to help form a potential diagnosis for ophthalmologists.
• Performs essential diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, color vision, automated perimeter, keratometry, and more.
• Administers topical ophthalmic medication and instructs patients on procedures and treatments.
• Informs patients about tests, conditions, and contact lens care; trains on insertion, removal and care.
• Reports equipment malfunctions and maintains inventory of consumables.
• May assist with laser/ophthalmic procedures and act as a scribe as needed.
