Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to support direct patient care in the Department of Ophthalmology. This role performs a broad range of testing and patient education to help diagnose and manage eye conditions.

You will conduct visual acuity, refraction, tonometry, and related measurements, prepare patients for procedures, and collaborate with clinicians in a fast-paced, multi-specialty setting.

Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent and Certified as an Ophthalmic Assistant or Ophthalmic Technician through JCAHPO or a Graduate of an accredited school of Ophthalmic Technology with an Associate’s degree in Ophthalmic Technology.
  • Strong refractometry skills are required.
  • Current CPR Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a broad range of ophthalmic testing and patient care duties.
  • Carry out visual acuity, ocular motility, refraction, keratometry and related measurements.
  • Assist with education, medication administration and procedures.
