Job description

Overview

Greets patients and escorts them to and from the examining rooms. Obtains ocular, medical and family history; assists doctor during exam or minor surgery as well as with any additional testing. Assists screeners, surgery scheduling tech, and front desk areas as needed; answers patient telephone calls. Performs related duties as assigned.

Position Details

Location: Springfield, Missouri. Full Time.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High School/GED.
• Experience: Must have good telephone and communication skills.
• Skills: Assist in a variety of treatments and procedures for ophthalmology and optometry; interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and policies; communicate clearly and establish effective relationships with patients, staff, and the public.
• Equipment: Operate equipment for VFA, A scans, PAM, BAT, color vision testing, pupil evaluation, Amsler grid, automated keratometry, and corneal topography.

Preferred Experience

• Knowledge of ophthalmology office procedures.
• General medical knowledge of anatomy, physiology, systemic and ocular diseases.
• Experience with administration of eye drops, ointments, irrigating solutions, and pharmacology of dilation drugs.
• Minimum one‑year prior work experience.
