Job summary

UW Health is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant (COA, COT, CPOT) to perform visual testing and support eye care patients at multiple UW Health Ophthalmology clinics. The role requires providing a safe, comforting atmosphere and collaborating in a fast-paced team setting.

The position is full-time, with scheduling flexibility and a comprehensive benefits package. Upfront sign-on bonus potential may apply for external hires.

Qualifications

• 6 months of customer service experience required
• 1 year of experience as a Certified Ophthalmic/Optometric Assistant or CMA or LPN preferred
• Complete an accredited Ophthalmic/Optometric program or CMA/LPN preferred; certifications within 1.5 years required

Work Schedule

Full time, 40 hrs per week day shift. Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:30am - 5:30pm, no weekends required.

You will work at Deming Way Ophthalmology, 2349 Deming Way and will be required to provide coverage at our Ophthalmology Clinics located at 2880 University Avenue, 1 S Park Street and 5249 E Terrace Dr. in Madison, WI. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.

Pay

External hires may be eligible for up to a $3,500 sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• No minimum education required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred
• Completed an accredited Ophthalmic/Optometric program, Certified Medical Assistant program, or Licensed Practical Nurse program Preferred

Work Experience

• 6 months of customer service experience Required
• 1 year of experience as a Certified Ophthalmic/Optometric Assistant or Tech, Certified Medical Assistant, or Licensed Practical Nurse Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

• COA, COT, CPOT, or CPOA certifications within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
• CPR certification within 90 Days Required
• If LPN, licensed in the state employed Preferred
• If MA, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Preferred
