Nmble Medical in Salisbury, NC, is seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Assistant to join a growing, patient-centered ophthalmology practice. You will greet and room patients, perform a range of ophthalmic tests, and support clinicians with exams and procedures.

The role emphasizes accurate EMR documentation, patient education, and coordinating appointments across multiple clinic locations in the Salisbury area. COA/COT certification is preferred, and a positive patient-first mindset is essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months of Ophthalmology or Optometry experience.
  • Strong computer and EMR skills.
  • Comfortable working in a high-volume clinical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and room patients; obtain vision history and chief complaints.
  • Document medical history, medications, allergies, and patient information in the EMR.
  • Perform ophthalmic testing including tonometry, refraction, keratometry, pachymetry, and ocular motility testing.
  • Complete specialty testing such as OCT, topography, Pentacam, visual fields and biometry.
  • Assist providers with exams, treatments, and in-office procedures.
  • Serve as a medical scribe when needed.
  • Educate patients and answer questions regarding care plans.
  • Schedule appointments, procedures and surgeries.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and manage EMR work queues.
  • Support efficient patient flow in a fast-paced clinical environment.

What You'll Do
  • Greet and room patients while obtaining vision history and chief complaints
  • Document medical history, medications, allergies, and patient information in the EMR
  • Perform ophthalmic testing including:
  • Tonometry
  • Refraction
  • Keratometry
  • Pachymetry
  • Ocular motility testing
  • Lensometry
  • And other diagnostic testing as needed
  • Complete specialty testing such as OCT, topography, Pentacam, visual fields, and biometry
  • Assist providers with exams, treatments, and in-office procedures
  • Serve as a medical scribe when needed
  • Educate patients and answer questions regarding care plans
  • Schedule appointments, procedures, and surgeries
  • Maintain accurate documentation and manage EMR work queues
  • Support efficient patient flow in a fast-paced clinical environment
What We're Looking For
Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 6 months of Ophthalmology or Optometry experience
  • Comfortable working in a high-volume clinical setting
  • Ability to travel between clinic locations as needed
  • Strong computer and EMR skills
Preferred:
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA)
  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)
  • Epic experience
  • BLS certification
Schedule
  • Monday-Friday
  • Shifts scheduled between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM
