McDonough District Hospital in Illinois seeks an Ophthalmic Assistant to support ophthalmologists by handling clinical and administrative tasks. The role includes patient preparation, initial eye testing, and assisting during exams to ensure smooth patient flow and high-quality eye care.
Prerequisites include a high school diploma or GED and CPR certification (or attainment within 90 days). Ophthalmology/optometry experience and medical terminology knowledge are preferred.
High school diploma or GED. Experience in a medical office setting is preferred. One year working in a medical practice is preferred. Ophthalmology and/or optometry experience and medical terminology is preferred. Required to have a current CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date.
Must have knowledge of the following: current clinical practices commonly implemented by the Ophthalmologist; medical terminology; Service Organization and office policies and procedures; all technical equipment used; use of personal protective equipment in compliance with DCD and OSHA guidelines; rules and regulations concerning child abuse reporting and guardianship. The patient population must be considered when assessing job knowledge required from the employee.
