Job summary

Jimmy Jazz Ophthalmic Assistant role across three Idaho clinics, supporting physicians and staff in diagnostics, documentation, and patient care. You’ll collect histories, perform tests, and help with procedures to keep clinics running smoothly.

Requires a high school diploma; ophthalmology or medical office experience preferred; strong communication, attention to detail, and teamwork. Training provided; benefits include optical allowance and education opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Collect thorough patient histories including chief complaint, health background, medications, and allergies.
• Perform key diagnostic procedures: lensometry, refractometry, tonometry (including tonopen), muscle balance testing, pupil and anterior chamber assessments, visual field testing, and more.
• Administer and document advanced tests such as OCT, topography, and visual fields.
• Assist physicians with injections and minor surgeries, ensuring proper setup and documentation.
• Scribe during exams and accurately enter data into EMR or paper charts.
• Coordinate referrals, outside testing, and lab work.
• Educate patients and assist with medication management.
• Maintain exam room cleanliness, stock supplies, and calibrate equipment.
• Rotate between three clinic locations based on operational needs.
