Job summary

Nexus Water Group's South Carolina Water Utilities team is seeking a dependable Wastewater Operator to join Field Operations. You will operate and maintain treatment facilities in accordance with city, state, and federal guidelines, performing daily analyses and adjusting processes to meet permit limits.

The role requires 2–3 years of wastewater experience, a high school diploma or GED, and SC biological wastewater certifications.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2–3 years of wastewater experience.
  • SC Biological Wastewater B/C/A certifications.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and maintains water/wastewater treatment facilities as required by city, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Performs daily analyses of effluent samples; makes adjustments to stay within permit limits and comply with water quality standards.
  • Adjusts chemical treatment to ensure water quality standards are met.
  • Assists with water and wastewater line repairs, new line installation, and other work as directed.
  • Inspects and maintains pumps, motors, valves, and other plant equipment, troubleshooting problems as needed.
  • Responds to customer service calls, completes work orders, and maintains documentation per policies.
  • Performs routine tests on treatment facilities and analyzes readings of gauges and meters.
  • Conducts routine testing, monitoring and maintenance of wells, unit processes, and basic lab analyses.
  • Documents plant performance, including daily flow, well readings, and chemical usage.

Job Responsibilities
  • Operates and maintains the water/wastewater treatment facilities as required by city, state, and federal guidelines;
  • Performs daily analyses of effluent samples; makes necessary adjustments to keep the facility within permit limits; Makes operational adjustments as needed to comply with state and federal water quality standards
  • Adjusts chemical treatment to ensure water quality standards are met.
  • Assists with water and wastewater line repairs, new line installation, and other work as directed.
  • Inspect and maintains pumps, motors, valves, and other plant equipment in working order, troubleshooting problems as they arise.
  • Respond to and investigate customer service calls. Complete customer service work orders, updates, and maintain activity with required documentation and close work orders in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Performs routine tests on water treatment facilities including tests related to treatment process, chemicals, pumps, motors, and routine water quality sampling. Collects and analyzes appropriate readings of gauges and meters;
  • Conducts routine testing, monitoring, and maintenance of production wells, water/wastewater unit processes, and basic laboratory analyses.
  • Performs and documents treatment process and maintenance of treatment facility equipment.
  • Documents plant performance, including daily flow, well meter readings, and chemical dosage and usage.
  • Other duties assigned.
