Job summary

Kokosing seeks a Training Specialist to develop and support the growth of heavy equipment operators based in Morgantown, WV, supporting a local construction project.

You will train new operators, mentor experienced staff, build strong relationships with unions and suppliers, and ensure safety and productivity in the field.

This role requires good communication, leadership, and knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulations, with 90% field work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; at least five years' experience as a construction equipment operator.
• Must be a member in good standing of the Operating Engineers Union.
• Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide training to new operators to develop and improve equipment operation skills.
• Work with experienced operators to keep skills up-to-date and aware of new techniques.
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with operators, mechanics, superintendents, and management.
• Provide management recommendations regarding operator placement.
• Inspect equipment to ensure maintenance and safety procedures.
• Ensure operators understand proper equipment processes and report deficiencies.
• Monitor equipment usage to ensure it operates within rated capacities.
• Maintain relationships with Local Unions, trade schools, and skilled craft community.
• Communicate needed repairs to ensure timely repair.

Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY : Train and support the development of heavy equipment operators for continued safety, productivity, and quality in the field

*This individual’s home base will be in Morgantown, WV, supporting a local construction project.*

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Provide training to new operators to develop and improve their equipment operation skills and add value to their trade.
• Work with experienced operators to keep their equipment operating skills and training up-to-date and maintain their awareness of new techniques and methods
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with all operators, mechanics, superintendents, and management to facilitate effective communication and coordination within the field operations.
• Provide management recommendations regarding the placement of operators to ensure best fit to benefit the company and the operator
• Inspect equipment to ensure proper maintenance and safety procedures.
• Ensure the operator understands proper equipment processes and bring any deficiencies or concerns to the attention of the proper supervisor.
• Monitor equipment used to ensure it is operated within its rated capacities
• Maintain a good working relationship with Local Unions, trade schools, and skilled craft community to find and hire the most qualified operator candidates for Kokosing.
• Communicate needed repairs to ensure repair in a timely manner.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE :

• Minimum high school diploma with at least five years’ experience as an operator in construction industry.
• Amember in good standing of the Operating Engineers Union.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES** :**

• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• Basic computer skills
• Skilled in dirt moving equipment and techniques
• Knowledgeable in both MSHA and OSHA regulations and guidelines

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS

• Valid driver’s license and good driving record

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

• 90% of job duties are performed in the field environment.
• About 80% of the time is spentobservingand mentoringoperators, 20% of the time is spent working withmanagement, office associates,educatorsand vendors.
