Job description

Aqua, an Essential Utilities company, offers a career as an Operator in the White Haven Division, Pennsylvania. The operator will run water and wastewater systems, perform leak detection, maintain equipment, and provide customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Leak detection and maintenance of equipment at wells and pumping facilities.
  • Operation and maintenance of distribution systems including mains, valves, hydrants, and services.
  • Maintenance of equipment at wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations.
  • Operation and maintenance of sewer collection systems including collection mains and pump stations.
  • Survey, troubleshoot, and repair company service piping and appurtenances.
  • Maintain compliance with the company’s safety program.
  • Conduct customer contact and service functions (meter reading, responding to requests, maintaining meters and service lines).
  • Recognize, note, and report unusual system conditions.
  • Observe construction and direct contractors on water and wastewater installations.
  • Operate and maintain vehicles and equipment used in operations.
  • Collect, analyze, and record water and wastewater samples for regulatory compliance and monitoring.
  • Respond to PA One Calls.
  • Perform leak detection and line locating services in preventive and emergency situations.
  • Perform other assignments as required; must be available to work a rotating on‑call schedule, including after‑hours and weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
  • Reside within 35 miles of the assigned area.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
  • Must secure an applicable water and wastewater license per the White Haven CBA; additional subclasses or higher‑class licenses may be required with up to six (6) months to upgrade.
  • Capable of lifting up to 85 lbs.
  • Must obtain a DOT Medical Card.
  • Physical demands as required to perform the essential functions of this job; reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities.
