Job description

Basic Function

HF Sinclair in El Dorado, KS is seeking to fill Operator Start positions. This position will be responsible for working in assigned process unit role in and around the Facility that include but are not limited to: Operations Units, Hydrogen Plants, Boiler, Wastewater Treatment Plant and Tank Farm.

Job Duties

• Supports the refinery safety process and maintains on the job safety vigilance
• Works rotating shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays as scheduled
• Responds to callouts and holdovers
• Reviews daily orders at shift relief
• Checks instruments, records rounds in PM schedule, checks equipment and assures that the operation and equipment conform to operating requirements
• Operates equipment manually and/or by instrument/computer control, maintaining temperatures, pressures, levels, and/or other process variables to meet planned production and quality
• Fires furnaces, operates pumps, sets lines and manifolds, changes blinds and jump-overs, operates compressors, gauges tanks, draws samples, runs control tests, sends samples to the Lab, adjusts chemical injection rates, zeroes meters, changes tests alarms.
• Repairs equipment as required and within ability to accomplish repairs safely and requests maintenance support as necessary
• Performs other work, such as lubricating equipment, cleanup and housekeeping
• Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from timeto time in their sole and complete discretion.

Education Level

A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Required Skills

Basic computer skills, mechanically inclined, understanding and ability to comply with all Federal, State, Local, and Company regulations, policies, guidelines, and procedures, including use of tools (hand tools and power tools) and operation(s) of scissor lift/man-lift. Required to complete all required certifications and training to know and become competent in basic tasks under direct supervision while completing classroom and CBT training. Ability to effectively communicate with others (written and verbal), basic reading and writing skills, with the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Must have a valid driver license.

Physical Requirements

Job conditions may require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, lifting and/or carrying up to 50lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 50lbs, climbing over 100ft. Must have the ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential, valid state driver license and proof of insurance required.
