Job summary

Freshpet is seeking a Sanitation Operator for the night shift to disinfect surfaces and sanitize production components, ensuring minimal waste on the line. The role involves cleaning, sanitizing, and reassembling equipment, while coordinating with QA for pre-op inspections.

Industry-standard shifts are 12 hours in a cold, wet environment. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and be able to lift 50 lbs and follow all GMP/HACCP procedures.

Qualifications

• Read and follow procedures and accurately complete sanitation paperwork
• Able to lift 50 lbs and work in a cold, wet environment
• Willingness to cross-train on sanitation duties
• Able to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating 7-day schedule

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, clean, sanitize, and reassemble machine parts and equipment
• Monitor and adjust chemical cleaning usage
• Support Pre-Op inspections with QA
• Assist in sanitation training within production
• Remove waste and debris from production areas
• Support weekly environmental and master Sanitation programs
• Assist with startup and shutdown of machinery and line equipment
• Follow SOPs/SSOPs and GMP/HACCP requirements
• Ensure food safety standards are followed by all team members
• Follow safety procedures including lockout/tagout and handling hot chemicals
• Manually lift and transport unfinished product during production
• Work in temperatures around 40°F (cold environment)
• Work 12-hour rotating shifts
• Other duties as assigned

The base rate for this position is $21.70 + $3.00 shift differential = $24.70

What You Will Do

The Sanitation Operator will be responsible for disinfecting surfaces, sanitizing all components of our food production and processing equipment, and ensuring that there is no unnecessary waste along the assembly line.

How You Will Make an Impact

• Disassemble, clean, sanitize, and reassemble machine parts, equipment, and other areas
• Monitor and adjust chemical cleaning usage
• Work with the QA department on Pre-Op inspections
• Assist in driving training initiatives of sanitation procedures to production
• Remove waste and debris
• Responsible for assisting in weekly environmental program and master Sanitation program
• Assist with startup, and shutdown of machinery and production line equipment
• Follow all relevant Standard Operating Procedures SOPs and SSOPs
• Assure food safety standards with regards to GMPs and HACCP plan are being followed by self and fellow employees
• Follow safety procedures with lock out tag out and exposure to hot equipment and cleaning chemicals
• Manually lift and transport unfinished product during production process
• Required to work in a cold and wet environment w/temperatures of (approximately 40°F)
• Required to work 12-hr. shifts on a rotating 7-day schedule
• Other duties as assigned

What You Will Bring

• High school diploma or GED required
• 1 year manufacturing experience preferred
• Food manufacturing sanitation experience preferred
• Ability to read and follow procedures and accurately complete paperwork related to sanitation activities
• Ability to lift 50lbs or more, in addition to standing, walking, bending, and stooping throughout the 12-hr. shift schedule
• Follow established company policies and those outlined in the Employee Handbook
• Be willing and able to cross train on all sanitation responsibilities
