PTMW, Inc. is seeking a competent Robotic Welding Operator to program and operate our Robotic Weld Machine, ensuring welds meet quality and industry standards. Responsibilities include setting up robots, monitoring performance, and performing manual welds as needed.

The ideal candidate has blueprint literacy, basic mechanical skills, and the ability to solve problems in a schedule-driven environment while maintaining clean work areas and adhering to safety guidelines.

Qualifications

  • One-year related weld experience or equivalent education/experience.
  • Multiple general welding certifications and/or a certificate in robotic welding.
  • Certified in or able to pass a welding test; D1.1/FCAW.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints and welding specifications.
  • Set up the robotic weld machine for specific jobs and select appropriate programs.
  • Monitor robot operation; adjust controls if programmed faults occur.
  • Load and unload material using overhead crane as required.
  • Clean machines after every shift and perform routine maintenance.
  • Perform manual welding during robot weld cycles when required.
  • Inspect welded surfaces to ensure quality and adherence to specs.
  • Identify and resolve production issues with management and team leads.

Job description

PTMW, Inc is seeking a competent and results oriented welder to operate our Robotic Weld Machine. A Robotic Welding Operator is responsible for soft programming and operating the robots to complete a variety of welding tasks. This will include setting up the robot for a specific welding job; selecting the correct program to achieve the shop order demands and monitoring the robot to ensure that it is working properly. You need to clean the work area before and after work completion. Operators will need to always adhere to the safety guidelines. As a robotic operator, you should ensure that the outcome matches the quality and industry standards. In addition to this, you should be detail-oriented and have good problem-solving abilities. Your ability to meet deadlines and work in a schedule-based environment will be advantageous.Essential Job Duties:Read and interpret blueprints, have basic mechanical knowledge and use of hand tools, following instructions, and welding products.Apply competencies in welding and utilize computer-based software to operate the Robotic Weld machine.Monitor machine operation and control panel display and compare readings to specifications to detect malfunctions.Adjust machine controls when automatic programing is faulty or if the machine malfunctions.Confer with management and Robotic Team Guide to resolve machine malfunctions and production errors, and/or to obtain approval to continue production.The employee is responsible for any rework or corrections as necessary to ensure a product meets specifications.Load and unload material by overhead crane depending on weight and size.Clean machines after every shift.Performs manual welding during robot weld cycle, if required.Observes tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and performance to specifications.Removes rough spots from work piece, using portable grinder, die grinder, or scraper.Uses templates and other work aids to hold and align parts to ensure quality and consistency of parts produced.Other Duties as assigned or appropriateRequired Education and Experience:One-year related weld experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.Multiple general welding certifications and/or a certificate in a specialty such as robotic welding.Certified in or ability to pass a welding test; D1.1/FCAWAbility to pass Quality Assurances internal test requirements for mile steel and galvanized welding.Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or PTMW, Inc. employees.Ability to clearly define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.Basic computer skills.Ability to read and interpret tape measure and blueprints.
