Job summary

Marathon Petroleum is seeking Refinery Operator Trainees for the Los Angeles Refinery locations in Carson and Wilmington, CA. The role involves operating complex process equipment to support the production of quality products in a safety-focused environment.

Ideal candidates are self-motivated, safety-conscious, and prepared to work 12-hour rotating shifts with overtime. Training and support are provided as you advance within the refinery teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Relevant degrees or years of experience in process technology/science/math strengthen candidacy.
• STEM background is advantageous.
• Experience in refining or petrochemical operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate complex process equipment in a safety-sensitive environment.
• Contribute to production of quality products.
• Adapt to 12-hour rotating shift schedules and overtime as needed.

What You’ll Need

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• One of: Associate’s degree in Process Technology, Mathematics, Science, technical or chemical discipline, or related field; four-year STEM-related degree; three years of refining operations experience; or five years in the petrochemical industry
• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to pass pre-employment assessment, drug/alcohol and medical screenings, and background check
• Ability to climb and work at varying elevations
• Ability to lift 40+ pounds, carry 10-20 pounds, and push/pull up to 250 pounds with assistance
• Ability to work in confined spaces
• Availability for 12-hour rotating shift schedules and overtime
