Job summary

Gildan is seeking a Warehouse Associate in Charleston to efficiently operate the work queue, allocate orders, perform pallet and case picks, and help manage the DC flow within the Sales Marketing and Distribution Team.

You will use WMS and RF equipment, maintain Excel spreadsheets, and communicate with team leaders to perform duties safely and accurately in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • 6 months to 1 year related experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • able to work from heights up to 80 ft.
  • Proficient with WMS and RF equipment.
  • Strong communication via phone, radio, email.
  • Excel/Word/Outlook proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and manage the work queue, allocate orders, and generate picks.
  • Use WMS and RF equipment to move goods and support DC flow.
  • Maintain knowledge base on DC operation and home department.
  • Coordinate with team leader and supervisor; take direction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
  • Role is part of the Sales Marketing and Distribution Team.

The opportunity
  • Responsible for the efficient operation of the work queue, allocating orders, writing SCNs, researching shorts, generating systemic picks, report research, providing information to 589 and/or reach operators, and maintaining excel spreadsheets. Handles cartons in accordance with business needs by performing pallet picks, case picks, pallet building and putting cases on the conveyor.
  • Efficiently uses WMS, powered equipment (589 transloader, reach, walkie rider, slip, and clamp), and RF equipment.
  • Maintains knowledge base regarding the operational aspects of the DC flow and home department.
  • Interacts with team leader and supervisor on a regular basis; takes direction (RF and verbally) to conduct all aspects of the DC operation while working with little to no direct supervision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
  • This opportunity is based in our Sales Marketing and Distribution Team.

The requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 6 Months to 1 Year related experience
  • Work requires frequent light physical effort (several times a day) OR occasional moderate physical effort (several times a week).
  • Significant exposure to one disagreeable condition OR occasional exposure to several disagreeable conditions/one very disagreeable condition.
  • Little or no exposure to hazards; very limited risk of injury or health problems.
  • Proficient knowledge of WMS (or similar WMS), RF Equipment, warehouse product flow, and above average communication skills (phone, radio, and email) required.
  • Above average clerical skill required including proficient use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Prior warehouse experience preferred
  • Basic Warehouse Management System (WMS) experience preferred.
  • Prior experience operating Radio Frequency (RF) equipment, i.e., scanners, etc.
  • Must be able to work from heights up to 80 feet and drive a 589 (Only applicable to Storage department)
  • Good verbal and written communication required
  • Must be able to work under pressure and multi-task on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to lift, stack, and/or sort boxes up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of focus to promote a safe work environment and prevent injury to others
  • Must be able to work in a team-based environment
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English language effectively
  • Hearing is required in order to operate a RF keyboard and/or scanner; and to complete required data entry.
  • Vision is required in order to read instructions, interpret data, and formulate metrics.
