Job summary

Lassonde Pappas & Co., Inc. in Seabrook, New Jersey is seeking a Pressing Operator to support all pressing and filtration tasks. You will pull berries, operate presses, and manage the pressroom filtration and sanitation processes while adhering to GMPs.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Pressing Operator reports to the Processing Supervisor and is based out of our Seabrook, New Jersey location. This individual will be responsible for all pressing operations and duties such as pulling and dumping the proper berries for chopping, operating all presses as required, operating the filtration system, and bagging off the press cake on the second floor. The Pressroom Operator is responsible for the complete sanitation of all areas of the pressing and filtering operations. Pressroom Operators will be alternating duties to ensure they maintain the skills to perform all the pressing operation duties.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Salary: $20.64 per hour with a 3rd shift differential of $0.45 per hour.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (essential Functions Of The Job)

• Scan ingredients and finished product
• Properly pull berries according to the berry dump list for chopping
• Operate all areas of the pressroom
• Understand and properly operate all pressing controls
• Make all piping changes and hook‑ups for the silo room
• Properly perform complete sanitation of the entire pressing area
• Operate the pressroom computer system
• Package press cake
• Clean CIP Silo(s)
• Update silo screen for batchers to pull oldest to newest product in order
• Sample SS Cran for QA testing
• Perform analytics on product pressed
• Properly handle and break down empty bins and move them to the proper locations
• Maintain awareness of all safety procedures
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned
• Adhere to GMPs and housekeeping standards
• Perform all other duties as assigned
• Promote a culture of food safety and quality by understanding your roles and responsibilities in all related tasks
• Taste test products as needed, up to a few ounces per test
• Perform all tasks with a safety/food safety first mindset

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Work in a safe manner following all PPE requirements
• Successfully complete and maintain the Lassonde Pappas forklift certification
• Certified in the proper and safe handling of chemicals
• Possess a good understanding of the berry pressing schedule
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Detail‑oriented and can multi‑task

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in the food/beverage industry
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment
• Ability to direct, coach, and train others
• Consultative, influential, strategic thinking and problem‑solving skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

FREQUENT: Ability to talk and hear; ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend, and/or crouch; push/pull; lift up to 50 pounds; use of hands and fingers to operate machinery/equipment. Exposure to wet and humid conditions and seasonal temperature fluctuations.

OCCASIONAL: Squatting, kneeling, ability to reach above and at shoulder height; ability to wear a dust mask; perform confined entry using the LOTO program. Exposure to toxic and corrosive chemicals.

VISION: Ability to use close and distance vision, as well as color and peripheral vision with or without correction. Must be able to visually detect obstacles and potential dangers in a fast‑paced production environment involving high‑speed equipment and powered industrial lift equipment.

HEARING: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Exposure to noise levels from pumps, machinery, forklift traffic, bottle lines, and exhaust fans.
