Job summary

Koch Fertilizer in Taft, LA offers an Operations Internship for 2027. This 12-week program is designed for those without prior experience, providing a hands-on opportunity to learn in an industrial environment.

The internship runs from late May to early August 2027 with a Monday–Friday schedule, 8-hour shifts and scheduling flexibility. You will support loading, rail operations, and maintenance coordination while learning safety procedures and best practices.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a technical or vocational program related to manufacturing, industrial operations, maintenance, or a similar field.
• Willing and able to meet the physical requirements.
• Legalauthorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Support daily loading and storage operations by conducting operational rounds, monitoring equipment performance, and reporting abnormalities.
• Assist with rail loading activities, including pre- and post-load railcar inspections and coordinating with drivers.
• Partner with operations and maintenance teams to identify equipment issues, create service requests, and support troubleshooting efforts.
• Follow established safety, environmental, and operating procedures to help ensure safe and reliable operations.
• Gain hands-on experience working on projects and tasks that are representative of the work our full-time operators perform

What You Will Do

Physical Requirements

• Climbing stairs, ladders, and working at heights up to 120ft.
• Low work including kneeling/squatting
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Push and pull up to 75lbs
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas
• Ability to be medically approved to participate in the respiratory protection and HAZWOPER programs
• Flexibility to work different shifts, including nights and weekends, as you’re available outside of academic commitments.
• Able to work in an industrial environment which includes working both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Currently enrolled in a technical or vocational program related to manufacturing, industrial operations, maintenance, or a similar field.
• Eligible for full-time employment before or by May 2028
• Willing and able to meet the physical requirements.

What Will Put You Ahead

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting or previous military experience.
• Experience in Machinery, Millwright, Instrumentation, Loading/Unloading, Rail, Truck, Marine, etc.
