Job summary

Stratas Foods is seeking a Qualified Mixer to support production operations in a food manufacturing facility in California. The role involves following GMPs, maintaining documentation, and operating mixing equipment to produce edible oils, dressings, margarines, and related products.

You will be responsible for safety, quality, and efficiency, with duties including packaging preparation, line integration, and on-the-job training of peers as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• One to two years of experience in mixing operations, machine operation, blending, food manufacturing, or a related manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Job description

Rate of pay: $21.23 per hour

Responsibilities

• Qualified Mixer candidates are responsible for performing a variety of production and support duties, including general housekeeping, rework activities, packaging preparation, product packaging, and food manufacturing operations, as well as other tasks assigned by supervision.
• Employees must comply with all plant policies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), including attendance requirements, and adhere to all safety rules and procedures. This includes the proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, safety footwear, hearing protection, gloves, and fall protection when applicable.
• Employees are responsible for following mix instructions and accurately documenting production activities in a clear and concise manner.
• Operate the kombinator, votators, and all related processing equipment in accordance with established operating procedures.
• Operate and monitor equipment used to mix and blend food products, including edible oils, dressings, margarines, spreads, shortenings, cooking sherries, vinegars, and cooking wines.
• Understand process flow and trace product movement throughout the production system and processing lines.
• Confirm production schedules with the Supervisor, determine which oils are required, and transfer oils between tanks to supply production lines using computerized controls.
• Monitor and regulate gauges, flow meters, thermometers, and recording instruments to maintain product quality, operational efficiency, and safe processing conditions.
• Be able to accurately mix additives using assisted equipment.
• Maintain a basic understanding of pumps, valves, filter changes, and related process equipment.
• Understand recipe formulation and adjustments, including basic mix variations related to salt content, moisture, and color.
• Document flush-outs and monitor tank levels to ensure product integrity and process efficiency.
• Deliver tank samples to the laboratory and coordinate with boiler operators to obtain samples when necessary.
• Complete and maintain accurate documentation, including batch sheets, product movement records, ingredient additions, and other required production paperwork.
• Operate CIP (Clean-in-Place) systems, including skid operation, line breakdown, and cleaning of process components.
• Follow all chemical handling procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Monitor the ammonia refrigeration system, including compressors, and reset system failures when appropriate.
• Notify Supervisors of equipment issues and document operating conditions daily.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
• Operate a motorized forklift safely and efficiently, maintaining required certification.
• Assist with training and onboarding of other employees.
• Provide support to other departments as directed by Management.
• Perform additional job duties and special assignments as required.
• Work assigned schedules, including overtime and weekends, as needed.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Related Experience

One to two years of experience in mixing operations, machine operation, blending, food manufacturing, or a related manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, bend, kneel, stand for extended periods, work in confined spaces, and work at heights
