Job summary

Sun Chemical, a leading producer of packaging and graphic solutions, seeks an Operator I Combo to operate production equipment across multiple areas with minimal direction and to fill in for other positions as needed.

Responsibilities include reviewing batch tickets, providing samples to the lab, performing preliminary quality checks, cleaning and labeling, and performing SAP inventory lookups while training others. Safety and teamwork are emphasized in this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Demonstrated safety knowledge and good verbal and written communication.
• Experience in a production/manufacturing environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate production equipment and follow batch tickets.

POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

Under minimal direction, independently operates production equipment in various areas of manufacturing. Able to fill in for other positions in the plant.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Review batch tickets; read, understand, and follow.


• Provide samples to lab.


• Report near miss incidents and improvement opportunities.


• Equipment cleaning, tub washing, plant cleaning and waste disposal.


• Labeling containers.


• SAP inventory look-up.


• Gather and weigh ingredients. (Scale operation)


• Participate on plant teams.


• Stock rotation / Minimization of partial containers.


• Ingredient traceability.


• Operate and trouble shoot mixing equipment.


• Training others.


• Preliminary quality checks.

SAFETY:

• Wear appropriate PPE at all times.


• Maintain a clean work area and work safely.


• Participate actively in all plant safety initiatives, programs, and training sessions.

ISO / QUALITY MANAGEMENT / PSM INITIATIVES:

• Follow all standard operating procedures with respect to performance of position duties.


• Stay updated on all applicable procedures.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent.


• Candidates must have demonstrated experience with and knowledge of safety.


• Candidates must possess sound verbal and written communication skills.


• Experience in a production/manufacturing environment is preferred.
