Job summary

CEMEX is seeking an Operator Control Room B in New Braunfels, TX. You will independently operate milling and kiln systems, reading diagrams and performing tests while ensuring safe, efficient plant operation.

Responsibilities include startup/shutdown, equipment adjustments, and maintaining clear records. Candidates should have a high school diploma and basic math/reading skills, with preference for 2 years in a similar industry.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, area and volume.
• Reasoning skills to recognize hazards and follow supervisor instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in cement plant repairs, refractory work, and kiln system upkeep.
• Read and interpret instrument loop diagrams, sketches and specs; perform basic chemical/physical tests and document results.
• Start up and shut down plant; perform minor repairs and adjustments to electrical equipment.
• Operate console equipment including CRTs, records, printers, and control instruments.
• Adjust electrical/pneumatic instrumentation and perform minor repairs as needed.
• Diagnose mechanical issues quickly and take corrective action, including emergency repairs.
• Keep equipment and work areas clean, safe, and compliant with safety rules.
• Wear required safety equipment at all times on plant grounds.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of Production Supervisor must be qualified to independently operate all milling and kiln systems simultaneously. Demonstrated competence on the operation of both kilns required.

Job Responsibilities

• Must assist in any Cement Plant repair as directed and in refractory and repair of kiln system
• Must be able to read and interpret instrument loop diagrams, sketches and manufacturer's specifications, make simple chemical and physical control tests, and prepare clear written reports, as required, on all phases of the operations
• Must be able to start up and shut down the plant and make minor repairs and adjustments to the electrical equipment
• Must understand and operate the console equipment including CRT's, communication equipment, recorders, printers, keyboards and other control instruments used in the Cement Plant
• Must be familiar with the principles of electrical and pneumatic instrumentation in order to make the necessary adjustments to operate and make minor repairs on these instruments
• Must have thorough knowledge of mechanics in order to quickly diagnose problems and take necessary action, including emergency repairs
• Must perform such clean-up work as is necessary to keep his/her equipment and working areas clean, orderly, and safe
• Must comply with company safety rules and regulations and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
• Safety equipment means clothing and apparatus including, but not limited to hardhat, safety glasses, ear protection, safety shoes, back support belts, gloves and respirators

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Language Skills: Commensurate with education
• Mathematical Skills: Commensurate with education, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, area and volume.
• Reasoning Skills:Able to recognize potentially hazardous situations, understand instructions given by supervisor, possess common sense

• 2 years in a similar industry preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to accurately read and use a ruler/tape measure

Working Conditions

• Occasional exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors
• Must wear protective equipment while at the location

Physical Requirements

• Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
• Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors
