Job summary

TP Mechanical Contractors seeks a skilled Backhoe Operator to perform daily site work across Ohio. You will operate a backhoe, excavate plumbing trenches, read blueprints, and coordinate with subs to keep projects on schedule and safety standards.

Candidates should have at least 4 years of backhoe experience in field plumbing, be able to travel to sites, and maintain equipment. The role requires safety-consciousness and a professional on-site presence.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years experience operating a backhoe in field plumbing operations.
• Able to read blueprints and understand plumbing layouts.
• Proficient in using common hand and power tools.
• Basic math skills required.

Responsibilities

• Operate backhoe and other equipment safely per OSHA and TP Mechanical standards.
• Excavate plumbing trenches of various types.
• Maintain and inspect equipment including grease and fluid levels.
• Assist with installing equipment on jobs and move equipment between sites.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Individual should be able to read and understand blueprints, communicate effectively with all other persons on the job-site, including our sub-contractors, and represent TP Mechanical Contractors in a professional manner.

Responsibilities And Duties

• Operates various equipment, primarily a backhoe, in a safe manner, insuring that all OSHA and TP Mechanical Contractors standards are met or exceeded. Responsible for the excavation of all types of plumbing trenches.


• Ensures regular maintenance is conducted on all equipment such as, but not limited to, grease and checking fluids.


• Helps install equipment on jobs.


• Responsible for moving equipment from job-to-job.


• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Experience

Experience/Qualifications Required

• Minimum 4 years experience operating a backhoe in field plumbing operations.

Job Skills

• Ability to read blueprints


• Knowledge of general plumbing and piping installation.


• Working knowledge of all hand and power tools.


• Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy and productivity.


• Basic math skills.

Education

• High School or GED Equivalent

Physical Requirements

• Eyesight correctable to 20/50


• Able to perform shift work


• Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 60 lbs.


• Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
