Qualifications

  • Willing to work varying shifts including overnight and early morning.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre‑shift activities: review schedules, check equipment and supplies, verify load accuracy, prepare for operations.
  • Conduct daily pre‑trip and post‑trip safety inspections of truck and trailers per FMCSA regulations.
  • Safely operate tractor‑trailer and complete required freight paperwork with signatures and documentation.
  • Plan trips using maps/GPS and record hours of service in electronic log.
  • Load and secure cargo; manage seals and trailer operations; use pallet jacks as needed.
  • Interact with customers and store personnel to maximize volume opportunities and service quality.
  • Post‑shift activities: couple/uncouple, refuel, secure equipment, and complete paperwork.

Job Overview

The Bulk Delivery driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating diesel-powered tractor‑trailers to transport and deliver products or materials in the packaged or palletized form to and from customer locations for local and regional distances following Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations and Company policies. This position unloads pallets loaded with the product within customer accounts, and repositions empty and loaded trailers, and interacts with customers and sales team while ensuring excellent service.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform assigned pre‑shift activities to ensure a productive shift; review work schedules, check equipment and supplies required for the scheduled work, including load accuracy, and prepare for operations.
  • Conduct daily pre‑trip, post‑trip safety inspections and in‑route safety inspections of truck and trailers to ensure safe operation of all equipment according to FMCSA regulations.
  • Safely and legally operate the tractor‑trailer at all times following all applicable laws and Company policy. Check and complete required paperwork associated with freight, obtaining required signatures and documentation verifying cargo pick‑up and delivery.
  • Effectively trip plan using maps, GPS, written or verbal information to ensure efficient, legal, and on‑time pick‑up and delivery to meet scheduled door times. Use an electronic log to record daily hours of service following FMCSA, state, and Company requirements.
  • Load and secure cargo against movement and damage within the trailer. Maintain seal control as required.
  • Read and comprehend trip‑related information and plan effectively for the trip; load and unload freight at customer locations using electric pallet jacks, manually or by other means, and foster relationships with team members and store personnel to eliminate potential issues and maximize volume opportunities.
  • Perform post‑shift activities including coupling and uncoupling trucks from trailers, sliding tandems as needed, raising and lowering loading gear, opening and closing cargo doors, climbing on and off the vehicle safely. Refuel truck with diesel, secure all equipment and machinery, and complete required paperwork.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Read, write, and communicate in English related to this position and FMCSA regulations.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid FMCSA physical certification with Interstate non‑exempt classification within 60 days of entry.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Class A CDL for Interstate driving using manual and automatic transmission within 60 days of entry.
  • Two (2) years of verifiable tractor‑trailer driving experience preferred.
  • Sales experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Use a pallet jack.
  • Lower and raise loading gear, and open and close cargo doors; climb on and off the vehicle safely.
  • Read and understand trip‑related information and plan effectively for the trip.
  • Use a hand‑held device that also serves as a cell phone.
  • Willing to work varying shifts including overnight and early morning.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Knowledge acquired through 1 to up to 3 years of work experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with excellent driving history; CDL required; Hazmat certification where necessary.
Work Environment

The work environment will vary, including but not limited to exposure to weather conditions, coolers, and customer storage areas which may be non‑temperature controlled.
