Job summary

Mars Petcare is seeking an Operator 2 for its Nutro business at our Kansas City, MO manufacturing plant. The role emphasizes safe, efficient production, change-overs, quality checks, and strict adherence to GMP and HACCP standards to deliver high quality pet food.

You will work night shifts and rely on strong communication and teamwork as you support continuous improvement, inventory control, sanitation, and on-the-spot problem solving to ensure on-time packaging for customers.

Qualifications

• Effective analytical, troubleshooting, and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment to complete the conversion process and package the finished product prior to shipping to our customers.
• Conduct problem-solving and troubleshooting as necessary.
• Load packaged material, clear jams, reset faults, conduct change-overs, quality checks, reporting issues, and maintaining area GMP’s.
• Complete basic preventative maintenance work as assigned (CIL’s).
• Ensure quality & food safety procedural conformance.
• Wear required PPE and report any safety hazards immediately.
• Communicate accurate and timely information using computer technology.
• Work self-directed with a positive attitude; reliable, punctual, and strong work ethic.
• Conduct sanitation activities as required.
• Manage inventory throughout the production process.
• Provide informal leadership to temporary associates throughout the production process.

Mar Petcare is looking for a Operator 2 to join our exciting Nutro business at one of our manufacturing plants located in Kansas City, Mo.

Operator 2 is a system expert in their assigned area and is highly functional in multiple areas. Operator 2’s must always work safely. They will ensure efficiency, operational conformance, product quality and drive continuous improvement. Operator 2’s are responsible for the efficient production of quality products in the required quantities. They need to be familiar with the manufacturing change-over process. Operator 2’s must be flexible and have the ability to operate other equipment in the facility as needed. This job requires strong communication, Interpersonal, and team-building skills to support site objectives. Punctuality is a must.

Requirements and Preferred Experience

Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently without supervision as well as within a team setting.
• Effective analytical, troubleshooting, and computer skills.

Preferred

• One year pet food and/or food manufacturing experience. Physical Requirements
• Sufficient mobility, strength, flexibility, hearing and sight to access all job relevant areas and perform routine activities as necessary to deliver required results.
• Some pushing/pulling, bending/stooping, and lifting (up to 40 lbs.) necessary.
