Job summary

Bell and Howell, LLC in Troutdale, OR is seeking an Operator to set up and operate a variety of production machines at customer sites, reporting to the District Service Manager. This role requires hands-on machine operation, attention to safety, and strong teamwork.

The position involves a 12-hour night shift (6pm–6am) with a 4 days on/3 days off schedule and occasional travel for training. A high school diploma or equivalent and experience operating production print equipment are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • Experience operating production print and/or post print processing equipment.
  • Computer program functionality and software skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operates production equipment including but not limited to printers, binders, and trimmers.
  • Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion.
  • Ensures operational requirements are met in the set-up operation and the use of customer equipment and related product materials.
  • Communicates with team and escalates issues when equipment is not working properly.

Job Summary:

The Operator is based at Bell and Howell’s remote service location and will report directly to the District Service Manager for that location. This position has overall responsibility for setting up and operating a variety of machines and/or equipment at customer site(s) in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operates production equipment including but not limited to printers, binders, and trimmers.
  • Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion.

Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Abilities):

  • Requires understanding of computer program functionality and software.
  • Ability to accomplish the describe duties per the production schedule for the customer.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, quantitative, and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand, remember and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work as an integral part of a team.
  • Ability to read and understand written procedures and diagrams for production workflow.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance and be punctual.

Education and Experience:

  • High School degree or equivalent or six months’ related work experience required.
  • Experience operating production print and or post print processing equipment.
  • Computer program functionality and software skills preferred.

Travel:

  • This position may require some travel for training purposes.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and overtime as required.
  • Ability to operate large machinery.
  • Requires lifting to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Requires walking and standing; using hands to feel objects; reaching; and requires balance.
  • Requires stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling.
  • Ability to work in a loud environment.
  • Ability to work in small, cramped areas.
  • Ability to work in elevated environment up to ten (10) feet.
  • Work is performed in a controlled office, retail, and manufacturing environment; noise within acceptable safety levels; paper dust prevalent; cleaners and solvents used to clean machines; machines contain moving parts.
