Job summary

Genesis Energy, L.P. is seeking a hands-on entry to mid-level operator to assist in loading and unloading barges, trucks, and rail cars. You will monitor product flows, ensure policy compliance, and help with inspections and basic maintenance across terminal assets.

The role requires a high school diploma, experience in transportation or bulk terminals, and the ability to work rotating shifts including overtime. Some travel up to 15% may be needed; familiarity with petroleum products is a plus.

  • Promote and participate in the company's safety program.

Key Duties
  • Assist with the loading/unloading of barges, trucks, and/or rail cars: assist in monitoring product flows; assist in directing product to the appropriate location.
  • Ensure all policy and procedures are followed by personnel, customers and vendors.
  • Assist in performing inspections.
  • Perform scheduled rounds, checking for operational, environmental, or security issues.
  • Document, report and address any issues identified as appropriate.
  • Assist in or perform basic maintenance and upkeep functions of company assets, including station, pipeline, tanks, valves, engines, motors, mixers, piping and control panels.
  • Assist with the terminal automation control system.
  • Participate in and promote the company’s safety program.
  • Assist in and train to physically gauge and monitor temperatures for documentation of inventory reporting and quality control. Assist in gathering and verifying meter readings.
  • Assist in and train to pull product samples for quality control and perform API analysis testing.
  • Perform routine grounds maintenance for the facility.
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining facility activity reporting logs and related reporting requirements including readings, over/short documentation and product movement orders.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Prior experience in transportation and/or bulk terminal industry
  • Knowledge of petroleum-based products
  • Must be willing and able to work rotating shift and/or work overtime hours during the week, weekends and/or holidays as dictated by operations.
  • May be asked to travel outside of assigned area to other locations to assist, no more than 15%
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Self-starter, responsible and ability to work with limited supervision
  • Close supervision with detailed written or verbal instruction
  • Assists more experienced employees
  • Works within clearly defined standard operating procedures
