Job summary

Dow seeks a hands-on Operations professional to manage safe and efficient plant operations on a 12-hour shift. You will monitor process equipment, respond to abnormal conditions, and contribute to continuous improvements while participating in Emergency Response Team activities.

Preferred candidates hold a High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years of chemical manufacturing experience or 3+ years military experience in lieu of a degree.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED and 2+ years of experience in an Operations role within a Chemical Manufacturing environment.
  • Military experience with 3+ years can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shift schedules and overtime, including holidays and weekends.
  • Must have a valid US Driver’s License and be legally able to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship available.

  • Follow operating discipline policies to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
  • Operate process equipment by monitoring conditions, KPIs, and control systems.
  • Make decisions to maintain desired rates and conditions aligned with plant goals.
  • Serve on site Emergency Response Team (ERT) and attend required training.
  • Mentor and train new and existing operations personnel on process operation and troubleshooting.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled tasks, including immediate and severe weather responses.

About you and this role
  • Follow Operating Discipline policies, principles, procedures, standards and practices to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of assigned plant areas
  • Operate process equipment by monitoring process conditions, key performance metrics, field equipment and control systems.
  • Making appropriate decisions to maintain and/or achieve desired rates and conditions aligned with Plant/Site/Business goals
  • Serve on site Emergency Response Team (ERT) and attend all required training (Fire Response, HAZMAT, Medical, etc)
  • Conduct effective shift relief, as defined in facility specific operating discipline and tools, to ensure effective communication and handoff to arriving shift team
  • Use process knowledge and skills to improve plant performance and operating discipline.
  • Proactively identify improvements and opportunities utilizing facility improvement processes, appropriate management of change processes and communication tools
  • Maintain qualifications in assigned areas, per facility policy, and complete training goals in a timely manner.
  • This includes using discretionary time to address skills and knowledge gaps
  • Mentor and train new and existing operations personnel on process operation, optimization, effective troubleshooting, emergency response and the use of operating discipline in alignment to plant's training process
  • Perform scheduled operational and related tasks and unscheduled tasks that arise because of unplanned/non-routine events
  • Perform Immediate Response/Severe Weather Response activities, as assigned
Qualifications
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED and one or both of the following:
  • 2 or more years of experience in an Operations role within a Chemical Manufacturing environment
  • In lieu of a degree Dow will consider those with 3 or more years of relevant military experience
  • Successful candidates must be able to work 12-hour shift schedule and work overtime as required, including Holidays and Weekends
  • Must have valid US Driver’s License.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.
  • No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Skills
  • Associate degree or higher in Process Plant Technology or related field.
  • Experience within a Chemical Manufacturing environment.
  • Experience issuing safe work permits.
Physical Abilities
  • Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, respirators. and steel-toed shoes
  • Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground, including tight and closed in spaces.
  • Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Lift a maximum of 50 lbs.
  • This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground.
