Job summary

Ardagh Metal Packaging in Fremont, OH is seeking a Palletizer Operator to run the palletizing console and manage finished-product pallets safely and efficiently.

You will follow safety SOPs, monitor equipment, clear jams, check layer counts, inspect cans for quality, perform basic preventive maintenance, and collaborate with teammates to resolve issues during multi-machine shifts.

Qualifications

• Familiar with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety protocols.
• Detail-oriented with ability to inspect and measure.
• Two years in a manufacturing setting with troubleshooting and mechanical repair experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate palletizing equipment and control the palletizer console.
• Clear jams, troubleshoot malfunctions, and verify correct pallet layer counts.
• Observe cans on the conveyor to spot misalignment and quality defects; record data with gauges.
• Perform basic preventative maintenance and maintain a clean work area.
• Maintain forklift certification and assist with forklift duties as needed.

The Palletizer Operator operates the console that controls the palletizing equipment to sort, transfer, and stack pallets of finished products.

Key Accountabilities:

• Understands and complies with position related safety SOP's and work instructions, especially for Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, Housekeeping, SQF, and Personal Protective Equipment.
• Controls the operation of equipment including turning on and stopping equipment to clear jams and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
• Verify correct number of layers on each pallet.
• Observe cans moving along conveyor to idendify misaligned cans and to detect quality defects.
• Examine, test, and measure cans from assigned equipment for quality specifications using appropriate gauges and instruments to record data.
• Inform Supervisor of equipment malfunctions and potential quality defects.
• Maintain supplies and cleanliness of work area.
• Perform preventative maintenance checks and inspection of assigned equipment.
• Maintain forklift certification and provide back-up forklift duties, as required.
• Communicates with peers to understand issues, changes, and processes.
• Sorts, re-feeds or depals cans, as required.
• Includes other duties, as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

• Familiar with Personal Protective Equipment.
• Detail oriented.
• Two years experience working in a manufacturing environment; aptitude for, and work experience with troubleshooting, repairing and applying mechanical knowledge to machines/equipment.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Exposure to heat, cold, vibrations, odors/fumes, and loud noises.
• Ability to work multiple machines in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to climb stair frequently.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
• Able to visually differentiate colors and read fine print.
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and night shift.
