Job summary

Prairieland FS, Inc. is seeking an Operations Technician to join our agronomy and energy services teams.

You will operate blending and loading equipment, handle, store, and deliver energy products, and maintain accurate records while following safety and regulatory standards.

This non-exempt position offers pay between $15 and $22 per hour, potential overtime and bonuses, and benefits including health, vision, dental, and a 401(k) plan.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required or preferred.
  • Experience in agriculture and energy work is an advantage.
  • HazMat handling knowledge is preferred.
  • CDL within six months is required or encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Operate blending and mixing equipment to prepare agricultural products as directed.
  • Load and unload energy products and agricultural inputs with safe procedures.
  • Assist in handling, delivery, and storage of energy products and crop inputs, ensuring timely delivery and customer service.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, inventory, and inspections.
  • Operate and maintain energy equipment and vehicles in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment and perform routine maintenance and cleaning of vehicles and facilities.
  • Manage inventory by receiving, storing, and organizing agronomy products.
  • Document and record company products, inventory, deliveries, and usage.
  • Keep paperwork for compliance and ensure proper product handling and storage documentation.
  • Keep warehouses and equipment clean and organized.
  • Follow safety regulations and company policies to ensure safe operations.

Operations Technician

PAY RANGE: $15 - $22.00 / hour

Compensation is determined based on your experience and qualifications.

In addition to base pay, you may be eligible for overtime, commission, performance-based increases, and bonuses.

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

The Operations Technician collaboratively supports agronomy and energy services by handling, maintaining, and delivering products, operating equipment, and performing facility maintenance. This role emphasizes safety, efficiency, customer satisfaction, and teamwork while managing crop protection inputs, energy products, and agricultural tasks in compliance with operational and regulatory standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Operate blending and mixing equipment to prepare agricultural products as directed.
  • Load and unload energy products and agricultural crop production inputs, including fertilizers, seed, and crop protection products, while adhering to proper safety procedures.
  • Assist with the handling, delivery, and storage of energy products, including fuel, propane, and lubricants, ensuring timely delivery to customers and providing excellent customer service and professionalism.
  • Maintain accurate records of product deliveries, inventory, and compliance inspections.
  • Operate and maintain energy equipment, such as fuel tanks, trucks, and pumps, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairing equipment while performing inspections, routine maintenance, and cleaning energy delivery vehicles, agronomy equipment, and facilities to ensure reliability, compliance, safety, and efficiency.
  • Manage inventory by receiving, storing, and organizing agronomy products.
  • Assist in documenting and recording company products, including inventory, deliveries, and usage, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Maintain thorough paperwork for compliance, tracking product application, and adhering to regulatory standards. Ensure proper product handling, storage, and distribution documentation to support operational efficiency and customer service.
  • Keep warehouses, storage areas, and equipment clean and organized.
  • Follow industry safety regulations, environmental guidelines, and company policies to ensure safe operations.

REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent; experience in agriculture and energy work is preferred.
  • Familiarity with agronomy and energy products, including safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate and maintain equipment.
  • Experience with inventory management preferred.

Other Requirements
  • Obtain a valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) with required endorsements (e.g., HazMat, Tanker) within six months of employment and maintain a clean driving record.

  • Ability to work hours other than those considered normal at various times throughout the year to meet deadlines and demands.
  • The role may require occasional travel to other company locations or industry events, with the ability to travel independently and stay overnight as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in required training, including education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training related to the position’s requirements.
