Job summary

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. is seeking an Operations Technician for our Liberal, KS site. You will help operate helium plants and supporting equipment, participate in safety programs, and support maintenance activities with a focus on reliability and safety.

The role involves 12-hour rotating shifts (nights/days/weekends/holidays) and opportunities to grow within a large, global industrial gases company that values veterans and diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Process Technology certificate or degree preferred.
  • 12-hour rotating shifts including nights, days, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in Basic Safety Process as a Site Safety Committee member.
  • Monitor and control continuous helium production at cryogenic temperatures.
  • Work with compressors, pumps and rotating equipment.
  • Assist in plant equipment repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Calibrate analytical analyzers.
  • Learn to operate a tractor for moving large containers onsite.

We are seeking a highly motivated and safety-conscious Operations Technician to join our operations team in Liberal, KS. The Liberal Helium Facility is located 12 miles East of Liberal, KS and is Air Products' main helium liquid supplier within North America.

The Operations Technician will work hand in hand with other Operations Technicians, Mechanical Technician, I/E Technician, and Process Engineers to safely and efficiently maintain and operate the Helium Plants, Air Separation unit and Transfill Operation to include participating in the management of effective safety programs.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Active participation in the Basic Safety Process as a key member of the Site Safety Committee.
  • Controlling and monitoring the continuous manufacturing processes to produce helium at cryogenic temperatures.
  • Work with compressors, pumps and other pieces of rotating equipment.
  • Assist in plant equipment mechanical repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Calibrate analytical analyzers.
  • Learn to operate a tractor(semi-truck) for moving large containers onsite.
Required Skills / Abilities:
  • A strong mechanical proficiency
  • A strong commitment to safety, working as a team, and operational perfection.
  • A self-starter with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts night's, days, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to read and interpret piping schematics/ diagrams.
  • Applying written procedures for starting and stopping equipment.
  • Isolating systems for maintenance using work permits and lock out tag out processes.
  • Performing water chemistry testing.
  • Operating manual and pneumatic valves.
Minimum Hiring Requirements:
  • High school diploma and/ or equivalent.
  • Process Technology certificate or degree a plus
