Job Description

The Tech Leader is responsible for providing leadership, technical expertise and driving results across capital execution, site and facility maintenance, asset and productivity improvements while managing and minimizing labor and overhead costs and ensuring the highest levels of safety, quality, sanitation and regulatory compliance.

This position will be onsite at Richland Center, WI.

Relocation

Receive a $10,000 relocation bonus, plus a generous relocation package if relocating more than 50 miles for a U.S. salaried position.

What you’ll do
  • Ensure mechanical and electrical expertise is available to production and other departments to maintain production systems, utilities, buildings and grounds in a 24‑hour, 7‑day per week operation.
  • Drive key initiatives around the standardization of best‑practice policies for the Maintenance Department.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the plant maintenance function covering the 24/7 operation.
  • Improve employee safety, production quality, equipment reliability, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) utilizing continuous‑improvement techniques.
  • Utilize mechanical and electrical expertise to manage production systems, utilities, buildings and grounds.
  • Apply full knowledge and utilization of the EAM system in support of maintenance and engineering functions.
  • Lead continuous‑improvement programs related to engineering, generating improvement plans featuring both short and long‑term improvements, with and without capital investment.
  • Drive value‑stream mapping and Lean processes.
  • Create and execute key initiatives throughout the facility in the areas of maintenance, fixed asset management, plant layout and flow manufacturing, managing floating bottlenecks, FDA/GMP/AIB compliance, safety and automation.
  • Train staff members on new technologies (electrical controls and other manufacturing technology).
  • Oversee direct and indirect leadership of maintenance staff, ensuring effective selection, retention, development, disciplinary action and performance management.
  • Participate in collective‑bargaining negotiations, grievances or other contract‑related activities where applicable.
  • Drive key initiatives around refrigeration systems, plant utility systems, high‑speed processing and packaging/material handling systems.
  • Work with the leadership team to ensure compliance with Food Safety and Food Quality Plans and customer requirements; interpret and communicate these requirements to plant production and support groups; establish and audit PCPs, CCPs and standard operating procedures; and review incidents to determine corrective actions.
What you need to succeed
  • Bachelor’s in Engineering or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in engineering, project management, process excellence, Black Belt or maintenance.
  • 8–10 years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a management role.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of operations (Green Belt/Black Belt preferred).
  • High‑level management and business skills, extensive financial knowledge and understanding of employment policies and procedures.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and conflict‑resolution skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to influence and impact all organization levels.
  • Ability to lead processes to conclusions and recommendations.
  • Flexibility to expend discretionary effort as needed to meet critical needs.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
