Job summary

Air Liquide Large Industries is hiring an Operations Support Technician for the Nederland/Port Neches area. The role supports plant operations, safety compliance, and maintenance activities while working closely with engineers and operators at the Nederland site.

You will perform rounds, monitor equipment, and assist with daily operations, ensuring adherence to SOPs and safety policies. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 5+ years of technical training or operations experience.
• Knowledge of instrumentation, piping systems, rotating equipment.
• Familiarity with plant safety requirements and regulatory compliance (PSM, EPA/FDA regs).
• Ability to operate Maximo and basic computer tools.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate understanding of plant safety rules and procedures.
• Identify potential maintenance needs and enter work orders in Maximo.
• Perform operator rounds and sampling; support startup/shutdown activities.
• Maintain records with accuracy and comply with SOPs and safety policies.
• Assist with training of operational staff and contractors.

Job Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate an overall understanding of plant safety rules, regulations, and company safety policies/procedures
• Instill safety in others by being safety minded; models good safety practices.
• Work safely in all situations
• Identify potential maintenance needs; enter them into the work order maintenance management system (Maximo)
• Perform all work in compliance with standard operating and maintenance procedures, utilizing current Life Safety Training skills and safety requirements including safe work permits, energy control isolation and IDLs, confined space entry work, hot work, work plans, pre-job discussions, plant safety inspections, etc.
• Ensure contractors, visitors, co-workers and others comply with company safety policies/procedures. Issues safe work permit documentation and performs lock-out tag-out of equipment
• Acquire knowledge/ability in all plant operations including processes and equipment
• Exhibit instrumentation and mechanical aptitude
• Learn and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), corporate procedures; read and interpret blueprints, flow charts, process piping ISOs, simple schematics, P&IDs, electrical schematics; perform basic math operations
• Keep accurate records and be diligent in documentation and record retention policies and procedures
• Demonstrate knowledge & understanding of control board and operator interface computer consoles
• Perform operator rounds, water samples, truck loading, operations PM's
• Maintain and expect high housekeeping and organizational standards
• Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Management
• All other duties based on business needs

Are you a MATCH?

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 5+ years of technical training or operations experience
• Ability to work extended hours/shift work as business needs dictate
• Ability to work nights, weekends and possibly holidays in order to meet shift and on-call requirements
• Valid Driver’s License
• Knowledge/understanding of instrumentation, rotating equipment and piping systems
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants (Process Safety Management, EPA regulations, FDA regulations, state/local regulations)
• Knowledge in the proper methods of locking out and isolating equipment
• Ability to use computers-knowledge of Microsoft Office software
• Ability to work in a team environment; demonstrated self motivated attitude
• Good verbal/written communication skills in order to deal effectively with management and external customers
• Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to wear required PPE safety equipment including, hardhat, safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, and FRC clothing
• Full range of motion; ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Able to climb ladders, work off elevated platforms/surfaces
• Able to work in non-conditioned environment for extended periods
• Able to enter confined spaces for inspection, testing and work

Preferred Qualifications:

• Technical Associates degree preferred
• Qualified in operation of the forklift, man lift and overhead crane is preferred
