Job summary

SkyChefs is hiring an Operations Supervisor for the Transportation & Assembly Department in San Diego. You will lead daily operations, ensuring timely, accurate service delivery and a culture of safety and teamwork.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree and 3+ years in transportation or logistics with team leadership. You will drive performance, develop staff, and ensure compliance with food safety and aviation regulations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in transportation, logistics, or ground operations with leadership experience.
• Strong problem solving and communication skills; able to lead others.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily Transportation and Assembly operations to meet schedule and quality targets.
• Lead, coach and develop staff; manage productivity and costs within the area.
• Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, OSHA, DOT and HACCP standards.
• Schedule staff, conduct daily meetings, and drive continuous improvements.
• Ensure on-time production and safe, accurate catering for all flights.

Role Purpose Statement

Are you a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment? Sky Chefs is seeking a motivated and people-focused Supervisor to lead our Transportation and Assembly teams. In this role, you will oversee daily operations, ensure timely and accurate service delivery, and create a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.

The ideal candidate is an energetic leader who enjoys developing employees, driving performance, and solving problems in a dynamic production setting. You will play a critical role in ensuring operational excellence, meeting customer commitments, and maintaining compliance with food safety, transportation, and workplace safety standards.

Location: near San Diego International Airport

Main Accountabilities

Supervisor Responsibility

• Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed and directed and that all delivery times are being met timely
• Conduct daily work group meetings
• Schedule and control staff to meet labour productivity and overtime targets
• Ensure compliance with all government regulatory agencies standards (example: Food and Drug Administration (FDA), United Stated Department of Agriculture (USDA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Administration (EPA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), etc.)
• Document and follow up on all department processes in order to implement improvements
• Ensure on-time and accurate production and/or catering of all flights
• Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety regulations
• Other duties as deemed necessary

Leadership

• Guide, motivate and develop staff within the Human Resources policies
• Make the company's values and management principles live in the department(s)
• Manage productivity hours and costs in the area of responsibility; initiate and steer corrective actions in case of deviations
• Participate and support company sponsored initiatives such as Quality, HACCP, Lean Manufacturing, Employee Safety and Production systems

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge required
• 3+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or ground operations, including team leadership experience.
• Strong working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, FDA, USDA, and aviation-related regulations.
• In addition, one to three years of related work experience required
• Problem solving and leadership skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to develop and lead others to obtain desired results & achieve productivity goals
• Working knowledge of OSHA, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), FDA, USDA and EPA regulations
• Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills required along with the ability to multi-task
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications
