Job description

Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Supervisor to assist the Plant Manager in overseeing the daily operations of construction aggregate production. This role is crucial for ensuring efficient production, upholding strict quality standards, minimizing downtime through effective maintenance, and maintaining rigorous safety and environmental compliance. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with excellent leadership and problem-solving skills who is prepared to act as Plant Manager in their absence.

This is an hourly (non-salaried role) offering strong OT pay opportunities, a very strong matching 401k, comprehensive medical benefits, and more.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Oversight: Assist the Plant Manager with the daily supervision of construction aggregate operations, focusing on production, quality control, maintenance, and safety compliance.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to MSHA regulations, environmental standards, and all company safety policies.
  • Team Coordination: Provide support to plant personnel and effectively coordinate the activities of equipment operators, mechanics, and the quality control team.
  • Production Management: Monitor aggregate production rates, adjust processes as necessary to consistently meet quality and volume targets, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to boost productivity and reduce costs.
  • Maintenance & Inventory: Support preventative maintenance programs, coordinate timely repairs to minimize operational downtime, and diligently track inventory levels of raw materials, finished products, and spare parts.
  • Administration: Maintain accurate records for production metrics, maintenance activities, and safety inspections.
  • Leadership: Serve as Acting Plant Manager in their absence.
Required Qualifications
  • A high school diploma is required.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of crushing, screening, and material handling equipment.
  • Proven self-motivation, diligence, and a collaborative work ethic.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, critical thinking, and problem-resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and assist with a variety of tasks.
Preferred Experience/Education
  • Previous supervisory experience within a construction aggregate or other mining environment.
  • Familiarity with MSHA regulations and environmental compliance requirements.
  • A bachelor\'s degree in an engineering field or construction management is a strong plus.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed primarily in an outdoor surface mining environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexibility is required, as extended or weekend hours may be necessary.
