Job summary

Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, KS is seeking an Operations Supervisor for the Street Division. You will lead daily maintenance operations, oversee traffic-focused work, and coordinate with crews, city departments and contractors to keep rights-of-way safe and functional.

Responsibilities include scheduling, assigning crews and equipment, monitoring quality and safety, handling resident requests, and supporting emergency response operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and two to five years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of this position.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class B CDL.
• Strong communication and leadership skills required.
• Experience in street maintenance and traffic operations preferred.
• Experience in leading a team, coordinating work orders, equipment, and materials preferred.
• Knowledge of traffic-control practices and right-of-way maintenance preferred.

Job Description

The Street Division is seeking an Operations Supervisor. The Operations Supervisor leads the daily Street Division maintenance operations and is ideally suited to lead the Traffic Team. This position coordinates and leads crews responsible for the repair, cleaning, maintenance, and upkeep of city rights-of-way, including traffic signage, traffic-control devices, street sweeping operations, and related infrastructure. Responsibilities include scheduling daily work, assigning crews and equipment, monitoring job quality and safety, responding to resident concerns and service requests, and coordinating with department leadership, other city departments, contractors, and community stakeholders. The supervisor also supports emergency response operations and promotes efficient, safe, and customer-focused service.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (G.E.D) and two to five years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of this position. Must possess and maintain a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Strong communication and leadership skills required. Experience in street maintenance and traffic operations preferred. Experience in leading a team, coordinating work orders, equipment, and materials preferred. Knowledge of traffic-control practices and right-of-way maintenance preferred.

Salary Range:

$24.43-$31.95
