Job summary

University Swaging, Woodinville, WA, is seeking an Operations Supervisor for Paint and NDT in aerospace. You will oversee daily operations, lead a team, and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and customer specifications.

You will hire, train, discipline, and appraise production employees, while driving lean improvements and cost-effective processes. You will coordinate production plans, monitor metrics, and provide technical direction to raise performance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Basic English language skills and ability to read, follow, and interpret work instructions
  • Proven knowledge of manufacturing, paint and NDT processes
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as AS9100, and NADCAP requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and maintain clean/orderly work area
  • Willingness to learn and, as required, help and/or train others
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Position Summary: The Paint and NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations and supervising the employees working in the Paint and NDT departments. This role ensures that all painting, coating, and NDT processes meet stringent aerospace quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. The supervisor will lead a team, coordinate workflow, and maintain compliance with safety and environmental guidelines in a cost-effective manner. The supervisor will be directly involved with the hiring, training, discipline, and performance review for production employees.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for departmental operations to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost goals for the organization and its customers.
  • Put together daily and weekly production plans, calculate productivity and cost metrics based on production plans.
  • Daily reporting of key metrics and adherence to daily targets.
  • Provide leadership and technical direction to allow team to improve according to key departmental metrics.
  • Maintain shift rotation schedule in accordance with the needs of the business.
  • Create a positive working environment which is committed to excellence, by demonstrating personal commitment to these ideals.
  • Provide leadership in establishing standard processes and tools.
  • Manage personnel performance, including employee reviews, disciplinary action, time and attendance, overtime assignments, employee training.
  • Ensure the use of lean manufacturing tools in the development of new processes.
  • Lead continuous improvement endeavors throughout the department.
  • Regularly communicate departmental updates to Managers.
  • Departmental health and safety compliance, accident prevention, injury prevention, equipment safety, as well as compliance with all company goals and objectives.
  • Oversee application of primers, topcoats, and specialty coatings per engineering specifications.
  • Review inspection results and ensure accurate documentation of findings.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to resolve discrepancies and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with automated paint systems and robotics.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles, Visual Controls, Standard Work, work center metrics, and continuous improvement processes and able to instruct others in these practices

Working Conditions

Aerospace manufacturing plant environment with exposure to chemicals, coatings, and inspection equipment.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $88,700.00 to $115,000.00 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.

This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
