Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking an Operations Supervisor in Jonesboro, AR to lead a shift within our service center, ensuring safety, efficiency, and top-quality service. You will mentor a dedicated team and drive daily operational excellence.

You will work with OD systems to monitor freight movement, plan workloads, and implement improvements while fostering growth and teamwork within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Some college preferred.
• 2 years of experience with operations, preferably in the transportation industry
• Supervisory experience preferred
• Working knowledge of AS400 and Microsoft Office
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Bachelor’s degree preferred

Responsibilities

• Monitors safety daily and trains on safety processes.
• Plans, loads, and unloads freight safely and efficiently.
• Teaches safe lifting techniques and enforces safe lifting practices.
• Maintains shift housekeeping for safety and productivity.
• Assigns and supervises pickups and deliveries to staff and equipment.
• Coordinates with Service Center management to meet objectives.
• Provides guidance to improve shift, department, and facility operations.
• Delivers constructive feedback on productivity and safety metrics.
• Ensures OSHA and DOT compliance through daily inspections.
• Ensures trailers are loaded correctly for safe transport.
• Uses OD systems to monitor shipment locations and communicate with team.
• Completes shipping documents and forms.
• Hires staff and handles disciplinary actions.
