Job summary

Owens & Minor coordinates and manages multiple warehouse functions including receiving, warehousing, and shipping, with overall operations responsibility in the absence of the Warehouse Manager. You will supervise distribution supervisors and drive efficiency.

The role requires 3+ years of warehouse experience, certification on equipment when possible, and a commitment to safety and teamwork within a 3:00pm start shift, Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Four-year college degree preferred.
  • Three years of warehouse experience (OM or similar) requested.
  • Certification on warehouse machinery preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and resolve work problems; assist teammates.
  • Review bills of lading to plan work activities.
  • Prepare truck delivery schedules with the Warehouse Manager/Lead Driver.
  • Assign teammates to duties and verify incoming merchandise.
  • Establish and communicate work schedules for timely completion.
  • Supervise leads, teammates and supervisors to ensure accuracy.
  • Screen and hire warehouse staff; train on safety and equipment.
  • Enforce safety regulations and motivate workers to achieve goals.
  • Conduct performance reviews and personnel actions as needed.
  • Suggest improvements to quality and efficiency and equipment use.
  • Ensure compliance with DEA and OSHA regulations.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Receivable, Purchasing, Sales and Customer Service.

The anticipated salary is up to $80,000. The pay is based on experience. For internal teammates, a compensation percentage increase will be reviewed and determined in partnership with HR, taking into consideration internal equity and relevant experience. Shift: Monday - Friday, 3:00pm start time

Job Summary

Responsible for coordinating and managing multiple warehouse functions including receiving, warehousing, and shipping. This position has overall warehouse operations responsibility during the absence of the Warehouse Manager and have the ability to supervise Distribution Supervisors.

Core Responsibilities
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists teammates in solving work problems.
  • Works with teammates to review bills of lading of incoming merchandise and customer orders to plan work activities.
  • Works with Warehouse Manager and Lead Driver to prepare truck driver's delivery schedule.
  • Assigns teammates to specific duties, such as verifying amounts of and storing incoming merchandise and/or assembling customer orders for delivery.
  • Establishes work schedules and ensures that the schedules are correctly implemented and that jobs are assigned effectively and completed properly.
  • Responsible for supervising Leads, warehouse teammates and other supervisors as appropriate to ensure all warehouse functions completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Screens and hires warehouse teammates; ensures teammates receive the appropriate training for their job function including the efficient and safe operation of all material handling equipment and warehouse machinery.
  • Interprets company policies to teammates and enforces safety regulations; Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Conducts performance reviews and recommends or initiates personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary actions.
  • Recommends measures to improve quality and suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.
  • Ensures total adherence to all Federal statutes regarding warehouse operations including DEA and OSHA regulations.
  • Works with non-warehouse departments such as Account Receivable, Purchasing, Sales, and Customer Service to ensure coordination of warehouse activities.

Must possess the general ability to use Windows based programs and the routine ability to retrieve and utilize available reports related to essential job activities.

Qualifying Experience
  • General knowledge of a variety of basic topics, such as math, reading, basic accounting, typing, etc.
  • Equal to a high school diploma.
  • Four year college degree preferred.
  • Successful completion of all company warehouse training modules resulting in certification.
  • Certified on all warehouse machinery.
  • At least three years of O&M experience required; for external hires at least one year supervisory experience required and at least two years warehouse experience preferred.
