General Motors is seeking an Operations Supervisor for our warehouse distribution center. The role oversees daily operations, manages a represented workforce, and ensures inventory accuracy, quality control, and timely inbound/outbound shipments.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and strong data analysis, organizational and communication skills. You will rotate into 1st/2nd shifts, and participate in safety initiatives and lean processes.

Job Description The Role *Must be willing to work 1st or 2nd shift * We are seeking an Operations Supervisor in the warehouse distribution center to oversee daily operations, manage our represented workforce team, manage inventory, ensure quality control, and supervise the receiving of inbound shipments. This team member must be able to rotate into first and second shift, given the business needs. This leadership role requires ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintaining the timeliness of shipments to our customers. The ideal candidate for this entry level position is professional, has managerial courage, willing to learn the business, a problem solver, and demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior. Within this role the Operations Supervisor position is a leadership role that will be supported with on-the-job training, professional development and opportunities for career growth.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):
  • Demonstrates expertise in knowledge of the processes required to perform, and ensures they are effectively performing job responsibilities utilizing standardized methods.
  • Motivates direct reports and/or business partners through effective communication, training, coaching, development, and recognition.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement using tools such as layered audits.
  • Achieves Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost key performance indicators.
  • Cultivates a safety culture, and implements and enforces workplace safety rules and policies.
  • Implements GMS and lean principles.
  • Models GM’s cultural behaviors and always demonstrates the highest level of integrity.
  • Maintains good working relationships and communicates with employees, union representatives, and management team.
  • May evaluate team performance, and promotes continuous improvement.
  • Achieves quality standards by communicating goals and leveraging resources to solve problems.
  • Understands and consistently administers company policies.
  • May completes administrative tasks such as timekeeping, and maintain departmental records and reports.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Trains, develops and evaluates employee.
  • Keeps abreast of parts distribution center/materials warehouse performance reports and costs.
Supervision and Leadership:
  • Oversee and guide department operations.
  • Lead, train, and evaluate a team of union team members.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative environment between peers and union partners.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and industry regulations.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Must be willing to work 1st or 2nd as determined by business needs.
  • Must be willing to work overtime (including weekends as needed).
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and analyze data.
  • Organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook.
  • Professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
What Can Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Previous supervisory experience in a union environment.
  • 3-5 years' experience supervising employees in a manufacturing, warehouse, or logistics environment.
