Job summary

Central Transport is seeking an Operations Supervisor to oversee terminal dock operations in Pittsburgh, PA. You will lead a team of drivers and dock personnel, manage loads, monitor performance, ensure safety compliance, and coordinate with maintenance and dispatch to meet production goals.

The ideal candidate has experience in transportation or cross docking, strong leadership, excellent communication, and a technical aptitude; an associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations for your designated section of the terminal dock.
• Manage unloading, forklift traffic, and proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to meet production goals.
• Utilize independent judgement to build loads based on labor and freight levels.
• Ensure proper load of carriers by monitoring cube and trailer weight.
• Provide leadership and accountability to drivers and dock staff.
• Monitor dock production and KPI achievement.
• Monitor hours and overtime.
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with DOT/OSHA standards.
• Ensure company operational model compliance.
• Support a culture of excellence in quality of product to customers.

Salary ranges from:

$60,000 - $75,000 + up to 10% in bonuses

• Monday-Friday: 8:00AM - 6:00PM
• Monday-Friday: 10:00PM - 8:00AM
• Tuesday-Saturday: 2:00AM - 12:00PM

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee operations for your designated section of the terminal dock
• This includes the process of unloading, managing forklift traffic, and overseeing proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to achieve a designated production schedule.
• Utilizing your independent judgement to build loads based on available labor and freight levels.
• Ensure proper load of carriers by monitoring the cube and weight of trailers
• Provide leadership and accountability to a team of drivers, dock workers and dock hand.
• Monitor dock production, ensuring facility Key Performance Indicator goals are met and/or exceeded.
• Monitor hours and overtime.
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards.
• Ensure company operational model compliance.
• Support a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers
