Job summary

AIT Worldwide Logistics is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead the operations team, oversee performance management, and train staff. You will coordinate with service providers and vendors to ensure timely bookings and transfers, while optimizing routes and costs.

You will supervise daily routes, maintain safety programs, and foster strong relationships with internal and external customers to meet service and quality goals.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 3–5 years experience in freight forwarding or transportation.
• AS400, Cargowise, McLeod, MS Office proficiency.
• Able to communicate effectively with vendors and customers.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for Operations and Service level of logistics operations including cost-effective and traceable movement of products.
• Supervise staff directly or through coaching.
• Arrange pickups and deliveries with transportation companies.
• Communicate with trucking companies, customers, brokers, and vendors; evaluate quotes to select best carriers.
• Address customer needs by analyzing orders and ensuring lowest-cost transportation.
• Oversee daily routes and schedules; monitor shipment progress.
• Demonstrate leadership and maintain safety programs and procedures.

Overview

TheOperations Supervisoris responsible performance management and professional development of the Operations team. The Operations Supervisor will be responsible for training and developing employees, assigning work to others, and acting as a resource to the employees. Additionally, this role involves managing relationships with service providers and partners throughout the globe, being the liaison for vendors to manage shipment bookings, ensuring timely transfers from logistics providers’ warehouses and onward to final destinations, as appropriate. This role will also assist as needed to complete the work of the department in addition to daily shipment processing.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the Operations and Service level of the logistics operations by providing cost effective, efficient and traceable movement of AIT's products both in-bound and out-bound
• Supervise all staff directly or through supervision through team coaching on performance, job assignments, coaching, training, etc
• Arrange product pickups and deliveries with transportation companies and route drivers accordingly
• Actively communicate and build strong partnerships with trucking companies, internal/external customers, customs brokers, sales forces and vendors. Including but not limited to: receiving shipping quotes and deciding on the best carriers based on cost, availability and reliability
• Tend to customer needs by analyzing and researching orders. Ensure that lowest cost transportation is used to satisfy both customer and AIT's needs.
• Supervise daily routes/schedules of shipments and deliveries, track progress of shipments and manager cartage set up of operations over the weekend
• Ability to administer and supervise; exercise judgement in appraising situation and making decisions to staff management
• Ability to tailor communication (both written and verbal) according to appropriate audience
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and vendors
• Demonstrate leadership through work ethic and high performance
• Ensure safe working environment through consistent practice of safety programs and procedures
