Job summary

Hyatt House Chicago / Hyatt Place Chicago – Medical University District is seeking an Operations Supervisor to oversee day-to-day hotel operations, coordinating Front Desk, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and Maintenance to uphold service standards and smooth workflows.

You will lead, coach and train associates, foster teamwork and accountability, supervise guest rooms and outlets, resolve guest concerns promptly, and supervise scheduling, performance, and staffing coverage.

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of Supervisory experience in hotel operations or a hospitality environment (Front Office, Housekeeping or Rooms Operations preferred)
  • Knowledge of Hyatt brand standards and hotel property management systems (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations of Front Office, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage to ensure exceptional guest service and compliance with Hyatt standards.
  • Lead, coach, train, and motivate associates while fostering teamwork and accountability.
  • Ensure guest rooms, public spaces, lobby areas, and outlets are clean, well-maintained, and operating per brand standards.
  • Resolve guest concerns quickly and professionally to maximize satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Conduct regular inspections and implement corrective actions and retraining when needed.
  • Support staffing by assisting with scheduling, training, and performance management.
  • Monitor inventory levels and costs for guest supplies, linens, cleaning products, and F&B items.
  • Handle cash, guest accounts, and hotel assets with confidentiality.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty as assigned and respond to issues and emergencies.
  • Promote cross-department communication to ensure seamless operations and guest satisfaction.

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational functions of the hotel to ensure seamless guest experiences and efficient internal processes. The role acts as a central point of coordination between departments, including Front Desk, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and Maintenance to maintain service standards, optimize workflow, and address operational challenges in real time.

What you’ll be doing…
  • Supervise the daily operations of the Front Office, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage departments to ensure exceptional guest service, operational efficiency, and compliance with Hyatt brand standards.
  • Lead, coach, train, and motivate associates while fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and service excellence.
  • Ensure guest rooms, public spaces, lobby areas, meeting spaces, and food and beverage outlets are clean, well-maintained, and operating in accordance with brand standards.
  • Resolve guest concerns, complaints, and service recovery situations promptly and professionally to maximize guest satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and food and beverage outlets, implementing corrective actions and retraining when necessary.
  • Support staffing efforts by assisting with scheduling, training, performance management, and ensuring adequate coverage across operational departments.
  • Monitor inventory levels for guest supplies, linens, cleaning products, market items, and food and beverage products, ensuring appropriate stock levels and cost controls.
  • Ensure the accurate handling of cash, credit card transactions, guest accounts, and hotel assets while maintaining the confidentiality of guest information.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) as assigned, responding to operational issues, guest needs, safety concerns, and emergencies.
  • Promote effective communication and coordination between departments to ensure seamless hotel operations and achievement of guest satisfaction goals.
  • Ensure compliance with Hyatt standards and all federal, state, and local regulations related to safety, security, sanitation, food handling, and hospitality operations, while performing other duties as assigned.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by Management.
Requirements…
Experience & Education:

Associate or bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)

1–3 years of Supervisory experience in hotel operations or a hospitality environment (Front Office, Housekeeping or Rooms Operations preferred)

Knowledge of Hyatt brand standards and hotel property management systems (preferred).

  • Strong leadership, guest service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Communication:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong diplomacy skills with focus on problem solving
  • Strong administrative skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office systems
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in primary language used in the workplace
Physical:
  • 8+ hours per day; stand, sit, and walk frequently throughout the workday
  • Lift, lower, push, pull, and maneuver up to 30 pounds occasionally
