Key Responsibilities
- Supervises day-to-day field operations staff in the absence of senior management.
- Ensures field employees have the required equipment to perform essential duties.
- Serves as liaison for field staff to other departments (Training, CQI, Payroll, Human Resources, Billing, Communication).
- Prepares paperwork for mechanical breakdowns, accident investigations, exposures, daily shift activities, and other incidents.
- Maintains the daily schedule and addresses discrepancies.
- Maintains training, maintenance, and state specific records.
- Ensures all units have adequate supplies and orders them as needed.
- Ensures employees consistently adhere to policies, procedures, guidelines, directives and standards.
- Ensures Patient Care Protocols are adhered to.
- Assists the Director in evaluating employee performance, maintains attendance records, and ensures certifications are current.
- Supervises and monitors overall deployment and efficiency of the established system.
- Performs duties outlined in the Paramedic Job Description as required.
- Aligns functions with established financial and operational plans to achieve cost effectiveness and efficient management.
- Responds to the scene of calls with crews, assuming transport sector officer and coordinating ambulance transport in the event of a mass casualty incident.
- Responds as the closest resource on calls and fulfills mandatory response needs based on acuity of call.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to stand and walk.
- Occasionally required to sit, climb, stand, or balance.
- Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 180 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 300 pounds with assistance from others.
- Specific vision requirements include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Qualifications
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Effective written and verbal skills, including proper spelling and grammar.
Certification & Licensure Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably in the EMS field.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent qualification.
- Current State Paramedic licensure in good standing.
- Current National Registry NREMT certification (if required by state).
- Current CPR, BLS, ACLS, PCC/PALS, PHTLS/BTLS certifications.
- Valid State driver's license.
- FEMA IS Certifications (IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800).
- Current Ventilator certification with required renewal every three years.
- Strong leadership and proven ability to collaborate in a team.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to comprehend and execute instructions in English.
