Reporting directly to the VP/Director of Operations, this person will work closely with Plant Managers as well as the EPM, PE, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams. In many cases, they’ll act as a “Delegated Process Owner” on behalf of senior leaders, managing high-impact operational projects. The role requires frequent collaboration with multiple departments, especially Supply Chain, PLS, and FP&A.

Core Responsibilities

This position plays a key role in supporting network operations, driving continuous improvement, optimizing processes, and contributing to overall business strategy and profitability. It involves leading initiatives in process design, operational standardization, cross-functional project management, and quality enhancement. The individual will also focus on implementing best practices, fostering consistent execution, and supporting strategic growth and efficiency initiatives across the operational network.

The role provides essential insights and recommendations to senior operations leadership, translating complex data and plant-level details into actionable strategic direction. Success in this position will lead to becoming a go-to resource for both plant leadership and home office operations teams. Therefore, the ideal candidate must excel at building partnerships and communicating effectively with people at all levels of the organization.

This position is also a strong platform for professional growth, offering career paths toward subject matter expert, team lead, operations manager, technical manager, plant manager, or director-level roles. The individual will strengthen their expertise in operations, process improvement, and cross-functional leadership while developing broader business and financial acumen.

Primary Duties
  • Lead and support key operational initiatives and projects tied to organizational goals set by senior leadership.

  • Manage and participate in continuous improvement efforts, startup and ramp-up projects, concept development, resource planning, scheduling, financial evaluation, and performance reporting.

  • Drive operational excellence within the category by implementing consistent standards, scalable processes, and best practices that promote efficiency and sustainability.

  • Analyze cost structures and operational data to identify areas for improvement and enhance overall business performance.

  • Develop technical and process design expertise within the category and actively share knowledge across teams to strengthen organizational capability.

  • Provide indirect leadership through influence and collaboration, working closely with senior operations leadership and plant teams to achieve shared goals.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 7+ years of leadership experience in plant operations (flexible based on skillset and experience).

  • Proven background in managing projects within a plant or manufacturing setting.

  • Demonstrated success within the specific product or operations category, with measurable business results.

  • Strong ability to work effectively with team members at all levels—from production floor staff to senior executives.

  • Technical and process-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in project management and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently.

  • Flexible, adaptable, and willing to take on any challenge that adds value to the organization.

  • Servant-leadership approach and collaborative, team-focused attitude.

  • Ability to build trust and maintain productive relationships in both plant and corporate environments.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict management skills.

  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and disciplined work habits.

  • Positive, energetic attitude with a passion for motivating and developing others.

  • Analytical thinker with the ability to connect supply chain and financial drivers to operational outcomes.

  • Comfortable working in both structured and changing environments.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25–50% annually.
