Job summary

Frontline Communications, a division of Pierce Manufacturing and part of the Oshkosh family, seeks an Operations Plant Manager to lead our Frontline operations in Clearwater, FL, overseeing ~130 team members. The role focuses on People First, Safety Always, and driving delivery, cost, and quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, or a related field with 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Five or more years of management experience leading and developing others.
  • Experience leading frontline supervisors and manufacturing teams in a unionized facility.
  • Strong leadership, safety mindset, and ability to drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a People First culture promoting engagement, accountability, teamwork, and safety performance.
  • Lead and develop front-line leaders and teams in a unionized facility for safety, quality, delivery.
  • Oversee daily plant operations to meet production schedules, quality, and budget.
  • Monitor metrics, labor, expenses, and KPIs; implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Champion lean, Six Sigma, and other methods to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Develop operational strategies, objectives, workforce plans, and capital investments.
  • Partner with leadership on labor planning, talent acquisition, and succession development.
  • Coach and mentor teams through performance management and training.
  • Collaborate with customers, leaders, and cross-functional partners on initiatives.
  • Communicate short/long-range plans; ensure alignment and accountability.
  • Lead daily/weekly updates on performance, priorities, risks, and actions.

We're excited to announce an opportunity for an Operations Plant Manager supporting our Frontline Business in Clearwater, Florida . This role will provide operational leadership for approximately 130 team members, strengthening accountability and execution across the facility.

Leading with a People First, Safety Always mindset, this leader will focus on Safety, Delivery, Cost, and Quality -removing barriers, driving continuous improvement, meeting customer commitments, and developing strong teams and talent for future growth.


YOUR IMPACT:


  • Foster a People First culture by promoting employee engagement, accountability, teamwork, and a proactive approach to workplace safety, with a focus on achieving exceptional safety performance.

  • Lead and develop front-line leaders and manufacturing teams within a unionized facility, ensuring operational excellence in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.

  • Oversee daily plant operations and manufacturing processes to achieve production schedules, customer commitments, quality standards, and budget objectives.

  • Drive operational performance by monitoring production metrics, labor utilization, expenses, and key performance indicators (KPIs), implementing corrective actions as needed.

  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives through the application of Lean, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies to improve quality, efficiency, and cost performance.

  • Develop and execute operational strategies, manufacturing objectives, workforce plans, and capital investment recommendations that support business goals and long-term growth.

  • Partner with Operations leadership to ensure effective labor planning, talent acquisition, succession planning, and leadership development.

  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members and leaders through performance management, career development, and skills training programs.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, business leaders, and cross-functional partners, to support operational execution and strategic initiatives.

  • Facilitate effective communication of short- and long-range business plans, ensuring alignment and accountability across the organization.

  • Participate in and lead daily, weekly business updates, preparing and communicating operational performance, priorities, risks, and action plans.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, or a related field, with at least ten (10) years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Five (5) or more years of management experience leading and developing others.


STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience with welding & fabrication.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment or heavy-duty equipment manufacturing.

  • Knowledge in six sigma principles

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position is based in a manufacturing or production /field environment and may involve exposure to loud noise, dust, moving machinery, or temperature fluctuations.


The role may require standing for extended periods, repetitive motions, lifting items up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, climbing, or using tools and equipment.


Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when required .


Visual and auditory acuity are needed for safe equipment operation and effective communication in a busy workspace.

Pay Range:

$103,300.00 - $177,700.00


The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team mem
