Job summary

Kinder Morgan is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee safe, efficient operation and maintenance of gathering facilities, mainline pipeline, gathering systems and wells within a defined geographic area. You will ensure regulatory compliance, lead training, budgeting, and personnel management to drive reliability and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years supervisory experience in pipeline/technical areas.
• Strong knowledge of crude pipeline operations.
• Working knowledge of mechanical equipment.
• Knowledge of contractual obligations to customers.
• Experience with safe handling of flammable gases, liquids and high-pressure systems.
• Valid state operating license with acceptable driving record.
• Strong leadership and ability to train and develop teams.

• Coordinate operation and maintenance of area facilities with multiple personnel across locations.
• Assist in preparing operating and capital budgets and ensure materials, supplies and personnel are available.
• Regularly analyze and review operations to improve efficiency.

• Ensure security measures protect assets while maintaining safety.
• Collaborate in design and construction or repair of facilities with team leaders.
• Identify and address safety and environmental concerns.

The Operations Manager oversees employee training and development, facility security, budgeting, technical support, and personnel management to achieve operational excellence.

What You Will Do

• Coordinate the operation and maintenance of area facilities to ensure their safe and efficient operation, involving the management of multiple personnel in multiple locations within a geographic region.
• Help set the objectives for the preparation of operating and capital budgets to ensure area has necessary materials, supplies, equipment, and personnel.
• Regularly analyze and review to determine requirements for improving operating efficiency.
• Monitor and refine programs, procedures, and equipment to ensure a safe environment exists for employees, customers, and the public.
• Ensure current security measures protect company assets while preserving the safety of the public, customers, and company personnel.
• Coordinate and participate in the design and construction of new facilities and replacement or repair of existing facilities with the various team leaders.
• Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
• Follow Company policies, procedures, and all regulatory (federal, state, and local) requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

What You Need

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree in business or technical field preferred.

Required Qualifications

• Five years' supervisory experience within a pipeline, compressor, storage, gas gathering, gas processing, or technical area.
• General knowledge of crude pipeline operations.
• Working knowledge of mechanical equipment.
• Knowledge and understanding of contractual obligations to customers.
• Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids, and high-pressure systems.
• Valid state operating license with acceptable driving record according to the Company.
• Strong leadership abilities with a proven ability to build and foster a team-oriented environment. Experience training and instructing employees.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present information to employees and external contractors in one-on-one and small group settings.
• Effective decision-making skills, including the ability to make sound, timely judgments in challenging or adverse conditions.
• Solid mathematical skills necessary for budgeting and performing engineering calculations.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to apply practical, common-sense solutions to day-to-day operational issues.
• Collaborative mindset with exceptional team-building and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions

• Uses physical force to lift, push, pull and hold equipment/tools.
• Climbs and works at various heights; may work in a standing, sitting, lying down, crouched or kneeling position.
• Routinely reacts to visual, aural and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.
• Regularly bends, stoops, moves from ground level to higher levels, raises/lifts from ground level a load up to 50 lbs., manually transports a load up to 75 lbs., and applies up to 150 pounds of torque.
• Regularly gets into and out of vehicles and rides over rough roads.
• Walks an average of 5 miles per day, up to 7 miles per day.
• Candidates may be subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing requirements.
• Subject to overtime and callouts.
• Works mostly outdoors, in and around mechanical, industrial and electrical equipment.
• Required to climb equipment and work in confined areas (i.e., tanks, pipelines, vessels).
• May be subject to work in hazardous conditions including hydrocarbon vapor, adverse weather conditions, and extreme temperatures.
• Wears safety equipment as required.
