Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced Operations Manager, Commercial Nuclear – Remote for our Oak Ridge, TN office. You will lead the operations engineering team and oversee design, maintenance and training programs to ensure safe, reliable nuclear operations.

The role requires 20+ years in nuclear operations, strong leadership, and the ability to coordinate complex projects with regulators. This remote position offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits. Candidates must be U.S. citizens.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in engineering or a scientific/technical discipline.
  • Requires 15 years of experience. Typical incumbent has 20-25 years of experience.
  • Expert knowledge in the operations and maintenance of commercial nuclear facilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of RadCon requirements and practices for nuclear facilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of material control and accountability practices for nuclear facilities.
  • Knowledge and experience related to the development of training programs for operations and maintenance activities in an NRC-regulated environment.
  • Previous SRO or RO licensed at a commercial nuclear facility desirable.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered.

Overview

We are seeking an Operations Manager, Commercial Nuclear – Remote. This remote position is based out of our Oak Ridge, TN office.

Your role
  • Serves both legacy and new build nuclear clients who are designing, building, upgrading, operating and maintaining nuclear power generation and fuel cycle assets.
  • We are a growing business, building on the foundation of our US government fuel cycle business, our international position as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and nuclear reactor technology provider, and our world-wide nuclear new build and legacy nuclear fleet maintenance experience.
  • Oversees and directs work activities within ARUSN supporting the design, engineering and licensing of nuclear projects as it relates to operations, maintenance, operator training, and security.
  • Leading the operations engineering team within ARUSN and with informing design configurations with valuable operability insights to ensure appropriate functionality, optimize reliability and cost, and ensure compliance with U.S. nuclear industry best practices.
  • Work involves directing research and solving technical problems of considerable scope and complexity, the solution of which may have a far-reaching impact on extensive technical activities of the firm.
  • Receives general administrative direction. Executes independent decisions and resolves important questions concerning area of expertise, being recognized as a technical authority in his/her field of expertise, on a regional or national basis, both within and outside the company.
  • Provides oversight and supervision of the technical work of senior professionals.
  • Interfaces with senior technical managers and all levels of management throughout the firm
  • Provides technical direction within field of expertise.
  • Establishes technical criteria and provides technical input on projects related to field of expertise.
  • Represents/defends company's technical work to client, regulatory agencies and others.
  • Participates in technical quality assurance reviews.
  • Assists management in conducting project reviews and audits involving specialty discipline.
  • Coordinates with program manager and other operational / engineering managers to identify staffing needs, deficiencies and opportunities for recruitment in technical specialty area.
  • Assists in the identification, screening, recruitment and orientation of qualified candidates to fill key vacancies within specialty field.
  • Leads initiatives with considerable risk and complexity; develops the related strategy for execution.
  • Solves unique and complex operational problems with broad impact on the business; requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions.
  • Impacts the direction and resource allocation for initiatives, projects or services; works within general functional policies.
  • Communicates complex ideas, anticipates potential objections and persuades others, often at senior levels, to adopt a different point of view.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
About you

Additional information

Expected compensation range is between $113,000 - $188,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
