Job description

The Operations Manager – Assembly owns the full assembly production lifecycle within a premier client’s greenfield facility, spanning four distinct assembly stations: Frame & Structure (Station 1), Electrical and Mechanical/Piping (Station 2), Finish Assembly (Station 3), and Testing (Station 4).

Key Responsibilities
  • Assembly Operations Execution — Lead all assembly activities across four production stations including frame & structure assembly, electrical assembly, mechanical/piping assembly, finish assembly, and testing/integration, ensuring alignment to production schedule and quality standards.
  • Workforce Management — Manage an assembly workforce of approximately 600+ resources at full scale (including Frame & Structure Assemblers, Electrical Assemblers, Mechanical/Piping Assemblers, Finish Assemblers, Test Technicians, Assembly Material Handlers, In-Process QC Technicians, and Working Leads – Assembly) across multi-shift operations.
  • Production Launch & Ramp — Lead the activation of assembly operations, including deployment of trained workforce, execution of initial production cycles, validation of assembly workflows, and shipment of first product.
  • Throughput & Schedule Management — Own Assembly Schedule Attainment KPI; drive production balancing across stations, manage line sequencing, and optimize cycle times to meet monthly ramp targets (scaling from 158 resources to 600 at full capacity).
  • Quality Assurance — Oversee in-process quality control through embedded QC Technicians and Test Technicians; own First Pass Yield and quality performance metrics; drive defect reduction and rework elimination.
  • Integrated Workflow Coordination — Ensure seamless integration with upstream Fabrication and downstream Logistics; establish end-to-end production flow from component receipt through tested, shipment-ready units.
  • Reporting & Governance — Stand up and maintain daily/weekly reporting cadences for production, safety, and workforce metrics.
  • Safety & Compliance — Ensure all assembly personnel maintain required certifications (NFPA 70E Qualified, Electrical Safe Work, LOTO Authorized User, Pressure Testing, Working at Heights); integrate safety into production culture.
  • Continuous Improvement — Identify bottlenecks and implement process optimization; drive consistency across all assembly stations and shifts; lead shift performance parity initiatives.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in assembly/manufacturing operations management, preferably in data center, server/rack infrastructure, or high-volume electro‑mechanical assembly environments
  • Proven track record of managing large‑scale production workforces (300+) in multi‑station, multi‑shift settings
  • Experience with production ramp‑up from greenfield or early‑stage operations through sustained execution
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and piping assembly processes, and testing/QC protocols
  • Experience with KPI‑driven governance, production dashboards, and structured reporting cadences
  • OSHA 30 certification required; NFPA 70E awareness or qualification preferred
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt minimum)
  • Demonstrated ability to ship first product and validate end‑to‑end production capability under accelerated timelines
