Job summary

The MENTOR Initiative (‘MENTOR’) is a humanitarian organisation specialising in disease control and improving access to healthcare in emergency settings currently across countries in Africa, the Middle East, and South America. MENTOR is the leading organisation dedicated to the control of malaria and other vector-borne diseases in complex, challenging settings.

MENTOR delivers large scale disease control interventions working with communities affected by humanitarian emergencies caused by conflict and natural disasters. We also help build the technical and operational capacity of local and international partners to incorporate medium- and long-term disease control systems into their operations and country strategy.

MENTOR is recruiting for a new role to provide remote operational support to a specific MENTOR regional team as they carry out a large-scale distribution of medical supplies throughout the whole the country.

Job requirements
  • At least two-years experience as a logistician in the humanitarian sector
  • Familiar with NGO working environments and standard procedures
  • Familiar with donor procedures
  • Language: English; knowledge of Arabic would be an advantage
  • Familiar with security reporting platforms
  • Understanding of governance and compliance
  • Excellent project management skills

Responsibilities of the post include
Procurement and supply chain
  • Oversee procurement tracking for orders made by mission team, using spreadsheets which can be presented to line manager regularly.
  • Instigate procurement orders when required.
  • Ensure timely delivery of procured items, liaising with shipping and storage companies to ensure onward movement to the correct location.
Field Logistics
  • Monitor team processes at principal storage point in country, and at storage sub-points, to include documentation checks relating to contractual obligations, inventories, stock in and stock out procedures.
  • Monitor onward movement of supplies to distribution points, to include checks on transport contracts, knowledge of threat environment, loading and unloading procedures.
  • Provide regular updates on stock holdings at storage points.
Security
  • Monitor security threats on proprietary platforms and share information, when appropriate, to field teams.
  • Produce incident reports when necessary, ensuring compliance with organisational and donor incident protocols.
Other
  • Other tasks as directed by Head of Operational Support, if necessary.
