Job description

Description
Who We Are

At TimberHP, we're doing something no one else in North America is doing, manufacturing wood fiber insulation at scale. It's a building material that's been trusted in Europe for decades, and we're the first to bring it to life here at home. That makes this a rare kind of opportunity, the chance to help build an industry, not just join one.

We're growing fast, and growth here isn't an abstract goal on a slide, it's new lines coming online, new team members joining every month, and new problems worth solving. We need leaders who are energized by that kind of momentum.

But as much as we're proud of what we make, we're even prouder of how we work. We're a people-first company. We believe that a safe, engaged, well-supported team is what actually drives great production, not the other way around. If you lead with people first and results follow, you'll feel right at home.

What You'll Be Doing

As our Operations Manager, you'll provide the leadership and strategic oversight that keeps our wood fiber insulation production running safely, efficiently, and consistently, from raw material intake all the way to finished goods.

This isn't a role about managing machines. It's a role about growing people. You'll work through a strong Production Supervisor and exceptional Operations team, and your success will be measured as much by the team you build as by the numbers you hit. If you love coaching, developing talent, and helping people find their footing and then their stride, this is your kind of job.

Your day-to-day might include:
  • Leading with safety first, modeling safe behavior, promoting a culture of continuous safety improvement, and making sure your team does the same
  • Coaching and developing Supervisors and Operations Team Members, creating a culture of continuous learning
  • Partnering cross-functionally with Maintenance, Quality, Building Science, Supply Chain, and EHS to keep production humming
  • Leading Supervisors and their crews in a fast-paced, high-growth manufacturing environment
  • Mentoring effective troubleshooting to improve machine uptime and yield
  • Driving a culture of continuous improvement in safety, uptime, yield, and cost
  • Handling the administrative side of leadership, scheduling, budgeting, and performance management
  • Being a steady, available resource for your team, including some nights, weekends, and on-call support as needed
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in a continuous manufacturing environment
  • 3–5 years of experience managing and developing people, with 2–6 direct reports
  • A genuine passion for coaching, mentoring, and building high-performing teams — this is a people leader role first and an operations role second
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Power, or a related field
  • Familiarity with OSHA industrial safety programs (lockout/tagout, confined space entry, hot work permits) and NFPA requirements for combustible dust
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making
  • Excellent communication skills — comfortable presenting to executives just as easily as coaching on the floor
  • Comfort with MS Office, mill execution systems, and control systems

Bonus points if you have Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, or Kepner-Trego experience — but we'll help you build these skills if you don't have them yet.

Why You'll Love It Here
  • A first-of-its-kind mission: A ground-floor opportunity, help lead an industry that doesn't exist anywhere else in North America
  • Real culture: A people-first culture where safety, teamwork, and continuous learning aren't just words on a wall
  • Career growth: We invest in coaching, training, and developing our leaders — this role will grow as fast as you do
  • Amazing benefits: Comprehensive health benefits to help keep you and your family well
  • Time off: Because rejuvenation matters — come back ready to lead
  • A mission that matters: Your leadership helps build a greener, more sustainable future for construction
  • A team that has your back: You'll have real support from leadership and real trust to make decisions
  • Competitive Compensation: Based upon experience and qualifications the starting pay will be between $120,000 - $140,000
